Right Shift Knob, Wrong Transmission...

So my SSL IX came with the MR shift knob. I bought it just like this from the Mitsu dealer, and when i pointed it out they asked if i wanted them to swap it with a black one... of course i said no. But now, i have a five speed transmission and a poser shift knob insert telling me i have an extra gear.

My question is if any of you happen to know a place i can get a nice looking insert to replace the shift knob insert i've got. The 5 speed label and the mitsu logo would be nice, but i'll take whatever i can get. Is it easy to remove this little carbon fiber looking cap? I'm assuming it's flat with some type of adhesive on the bottom...

Ideally i want to avoid replacing the shift knob since i really like the looks and feel of this one.

if you bought it new from the dealer with that, take it in for warranty and tell them 6th gear doesn't work and see if you can get your tranny fixed

If you are looking for a new insert, try ebay. you may have to purchase a new shift knob and swap the inserts. but by then, it would be easier to just get a new shift knob.

You should have told the dealer to replace it with the 5 speed knob on the RS models.

^actually laughed at that, i may try it. I'll definitely keep an eye on e-bay. Your right though, i don't think it's worth it if i have to buy a knew knob.

I'm all for it so long as it doesn't have the Greddy logo on it... (nothing personal... There's just nothing Greddy on the car) any idea where i can purchase just the insert then?

I remember installing a Momo shift knob on my Porsche 944 years ago and the shift knob had a little cap with the Momo logo I remember popping on the top. Not that i'm looking for a momo one... but that got me thinking that there's gotta be a replacement for this thing that i can buy individually somewhere out there.

Edit...

Good point, i didn't think about that. Does the RS shift knob basically look identical to myne only the top insert just goes up to 5 speeds? I may pursue this...

It looks the same except there are no holes machined into the top of the knob and, of course, it has the 5-speed gear positioning.

Nice offer but then he would have a 6 speed knob (which he doesn't have a 6 speed) and a Greddy sticker covering it up (he doesn't have a Greddy knob) this method will increase the poserness.
