No it is not safe to mount harnesses like that......I dont care how many JDM cars have it like that......JDM cars seem to like rollbars with no cross bar either (unsafe)....Unless the harness is used in conjunction with a real roll bar (ie...not cusco/safety 21) like autopower....then it's not safe.....this includes those with harness bars and no roll bar......the harness bars are only safe with rollover protection. If you want to read more about what is safe then go to the NASA Racing website and read their regulations......all the folks running with no rollover protection are "stunnaz" in my eyes.....have harnesses for looks, while making their car more unsafe for anyone riding in it. The stock seatbelt is safer than 90% of the setups seen on this forum.
