I ran a best of 1:39.6 and backed it up with a 1:39.8 on the very next lap. I haven't seen my entire lap breakdown from each session, but I had 1:40.xx best laps in other sessions as it got hotter through the day. My improvement in times was quite a bit beyond what I expected. I was hoping for 3 or maybe 4 second gains over last year's 1:45.5, but nearly a full 6 seconds was quite surprising...

Breaking into the 130s is quite an accomplishment -- well done

Yeah, they could probably use some new outfits, but it was 35* early in the morning and 50* in the mid-morning. It wasn't until midday and afternoon that it got up to 75+, so maybe that's why they wore jeans. The NASA shirts were on purpose so that the name would show up in pics, since that photographer was working with our NASA regional director.

Stock seats and seatbelts work great for me! The best compliment I got the whole weekend was from a mid-40s man who drove up in his CTS-V to spectate with his teenage son. He came up and talked to me in the pits while preparing for a session, then he observed me on track during a session. As he was leaving, he pulled up and said he was just in awe of how the Evo went around the track so quickly and so effortlessly. He said he was not used to seeing such a normal, well-built Evo at an event like this, nor was he used to seeing one doing so well. He said the typical Evo he saw had a huge wing with lots of stickers, aftermarket body parts, etc., but he did not like that. He told me that in his opinion, I had built my Evo perfectly. That meant a lot coming from a stranger...

Thanks. You're one of the few on here who would even have a frame of reference for what a 1:39.xx means. Drag times are pretty easily understood, since they are pretty standard, but track times don't mean much to others unless they are familiar with that track or have a list of other cars and what they run on the same track.

Over the Winter, I went from the stock setup to the Gerrard-spec Ohlins. They are showing up more and more on the actual competition Evos out there, so I think I made a good choice. One 350Z referred to my passing him so many times this weekend as me going Warp Factor 10. Yeah, my car is faster than his, but it only makes 324whp, so it's not that powerful. It's just that my entry, mid-corner, and exit speeds have all increased quite a bit.

I am planning on heading out to PMI in April (have the track rented for a day with a group of friends). I will definitely post up the times of both my Evo and the 7 once I get back.

For the sake of comparrison I ran a 1:49 there last year in my Evo so you are 10 seconds a lap faster than me right now which is no small margin

JTB, you gotta help me figure out your spiehl. You didn't join up the NASA event, but you're renting the track out for yourself with a group of friends. What's the story?

Let me know what day and if you'd mind if I join in (or at least spectate).
