Buschur FTW!!
Over the Winter, I went from the stock setup to the Gerrard-spec Ohlins. They are showing up more and more on the actual competition Evos out there, so I think I made a good choice. One 350Z referred to my passing him so many times this weekend as me going Warp Factor 10. Yeah, my car is faster than his, but it only makes 324whp, so it's not that powerful. It's just that my entry, mid-corner, and exit speeds have all increased quite a bit.
nice, you got the big dog ohlins
well good luck w/ everything, i wish we had a track here in Boise, but the nearest thing we've got is MMP

Sean, they are definitely a good package, but they're still just the Ohlins R&Ts, which are single adjustable. Ohlins makes much more expensive ones, but they aren't necessary thanks to Paul G's testing and re-valving.

Warr just for reference how fast is a 1:39.xxx around PMI?
Can you provide some more additional info about the track and how fast were the other cars? Whats the lap record? What was Paul G time?
This coilover setup seems to be worth the cost, I was planning on adding some springs/sway bar but I'll look into getting these or recieving professional instruction, keep us updated on your progress in the season.
The thread-title should be ohlins FTW.

Buschur + Warrtalon + Track Models = FTW! Yes, I won my first Time Trial competitions this weekend, but I didn't know that photographers REALLY brought models to pose with cars. I found it to be quite funny and had to call my wife to let her know just in case the pics got out!

I'll have many more pics later of not only the Evo in action but also the Noble M400, Supercharged NSX, and Ariel Atom that were also at this event...

Just kidding, congrats bro. Lots of hard work and glad that it paid off for ya.
The good thing is that it is a lot of track time!I may try and drag Paul down with us too but it really depends on his schedule.
Sorry to hijack your thread

1:39.xx is apparently very fast for a street car...or any car for that matter. During this weekend, it was the 2nd fastest lap of any car, and the only car with a faster lap was a nicely modified Noble M400 that showed up in a double-stacker trailer from Florida. The best lap I saw posted for him was a 1:37.6, but he did do 1:37-1:38 pretty consistently, so it was no joke.
The next fastest car was a supercharged carbon fiber NSX built by the local Acura dealership. The crew members were telling me its stats and how good the driver was. They said it put down 430rwhp and weighed only 2600lbs. Not sure how true all of it is, but that's obviously a lot more power and a lot less weight than I have. That NSX ran a best of 1:41.1 the first day. Until I see the final results posted, I can't be sure, but I think he mustered a 1:40.9 on day 2.
Then, there was a TTR Mustang that was gutted and that had HUGE slicks that had to be 335 or bigger. He ran a 1:40.9 but not until AFTER I ran a 1:39 and pissed him off. Up until that point, his best was a 1:42.0, haha. He definitely got motivated.
Lastly, there was a new Ariel Atom that was pullied and tuned, but he only ran a 1:46.1. He's new, had street tires, and just now moved up to HPDE3, so he will probably get much faster as the year goes on...
For reference, my best last year on stock suspension and 245-width V710s was 1:45.5. I dropped 5.9 seconds with my Gerrard Ohlins, 285-wideth V710s, Evo IX turbo, and SS brake lines.
wow... congrats to you and your improvement in this sport! you have helped many typical evo owners see what the evo is really capable of, and you have inspired many of us to look into the sport a little more deeper. thank you for that. when are you posting up the write up and the rest of the pics?!?

The Chronohunter (Paul) setup is truly exceptional

Vegasboy, I'll let the photographer know. He apparently has a slew of them, and this was the first time they attempted it at a NASA event like this. I'll tell they need to turn it up a notch, haha.

JTB, when I was at the track with Paul when he tested the 700/900 springs that I now have, he was running 1:42s on worn out 255 RA-1s. My goal was to match him on my BETTER, BIGGER, NEWER tires, so surpassing him by 2.5-3 seconds was unreal.
I'm betting that Paul could have jumped in my Evo on Sunday and matched the Noble's times, though. That would have been epic...
