How To: DIY Tailights Part 1
Here is a quick shot of one. I need to seal it again because I can see gaps and I don't want condensation. I also need to paint the trim around it so it won't show where I cut it. A few things I noticed are 1) take your time 2)the second one is going to look better and be easier to do than your first one

Mad props to Evodave because he is a pro at this and its no simple task especially if you want it to come out good. I will be sending him my headlights, though.

^^^ Looks great man, DEFINITELY take your time....and dude the headlights are sooooo much easier. Don't send them out. If you can do the tails...you would be amazed at how easy headlights are. You put them in the oven at 200 degrees for about 10-15 min and they just split apart.
It's honestly really easy.
Looking good though mad props for DIY

Headlights are easy, but what about sealing them back together? I don't want any fog in there.
i just left the sealant that was on them there, threw them back in the oven for same time/temp when done painting and squezzed em back together. then i went around the edge with a bead of clear silicane just to be safe. no fog.
You have to use the dremel because it's more than glue. The lenses are actually molded to each other; meaning the plastics are melted together. There is no glue holding them together hence the reason you can't put these in the oven like the headlights.
Replied to your pm, but a red scuff pad is similar to say a brillo pad just not has harsh. You could find these at an autoparts store or even a home depot. They are light abrasion pads just to scuff the surface to allow the paints to absorb into the plastic better.
great job on the finished product...the tails really came out great
The amber really came out great and is a very-very close match to the real jdm ones. Ive been looking around for the paint but cant seem to find the same orange, what do you think about some orange stained glass paint??? Just curious...
