looks really good, great job...

I was going to do a diy tray too but decided to move the battery to the trunk instead, so much more room w/ out the battery in the engine bay

Would you mind sharing a list of parts necessary to make this tray?

I am also very interested. Is that pan aluminum? Did you put the bend in it? Im from Chicago do you think this battery will be enough to start my car in the winter time?

Based on the cost involved it looks as good if not the same as the one that Buschur sells. FWIW I like the looks of the trays that Nisei and PPI sell. In the end though, they all achieve the same purpose, good job.

Not a problem. I got all the parts from ACE Hardware but you could find it all at any hardware store. The pan is made from a real thin gauge aluminum sheet and I used a dremel to cut it to shape. For the bend, I basically placed it over a 2x4 and used a rubber mallet to bend it how I wanted. I placed some strips of tape over the area I was hitting so I wouldn't scuff up the Aluminum. Then there are the two steel threaded rods. I had to cut them down some to the proper length. As for the tie down strap, it came off a u-bolt like this. http://www.boltdepot.com/u-bolts.aspx?wt.srch=1 I forget what size is needed but all you need to do is measure the width of the battery. All of these parts were in the same aisle at the ACE I went to. So it shouldn't be too hard to find any of it.

As for the battery supplying enough juice for winter use, I would imagine it would be fine. Seems like many others get away with it. I don't daily drive my Evo and rarely take it out in the winter so it was the least of my concerns.

And again, thanks for all the compliments guys.

That's pretty sweet, I did a DIY battery tray too. Its definately a worthwhile mod especially for the money. I didn't know where to get sheet aluminum from here in town so I ended up just going to Lowes and getting some sheet steel there. The downside is that it wasn,t stainless teel so I had to powdercoat it which added $25 to the cost of my project but it has a nice black coating on it.

Do you know how much the tray and the battry ended up weighing? Mine tipped the scales at 12.62 when it was all said and done.

Sorry for taking a while to get back to this thread. Since I sold the car, I don't visit the site all to often anymore. The pics in this thread are all that I have. I also didn't write down any of the dimensions. Just measure out the stock tray and then cut the sheet of aluminum to fit. I eyeballed most of the cutting myself. That's about all I can say about it other than what I mentioned in my other posts. It's actually a pretty simple mod. Thanks for the comment also.

It was an APS cold air intake.

The mounting plate is the stock tray cut in half. So I used the stock mounting points to mount it to the chassis just like stock.

What turbo kit is that and what intake pipe do you have? I didnt think the APS pipe would work with aftermarket turbo kits due to the location and angle where it put the MAF? Thanks!
