So springs finally here and i want to do a complete wash of my ride inside and out. Wondering what you guys use to clean the engine bay with. Any suggestions? It'd really help, thanks.

 

Simple green. then use some wd-40 to give it alil shine.

 

spray in some degreaser and pressure wash it out.

take out the battery first!!!


then degrease and spray/rinse w/ water...

 

make sure your sparkplug holes dont get water in them, mine did, big problem

 

I use shout. It works great. Spray it on let it sit for a couple of min then hose it off with very light water pressure. Then air dry

I just washed mine today... what a PITA!

 

+1 on removing the battery. you can also use aluminum foil to cover the electrical stuff. also, its not a good idea to leave solvents or wd40 on rubbers too long. my cousin the crazy car detailer uses some kind of of engine bay cleaner that he sprays all over the place, wont harm rubber/plastic and gets everything shiny as new.

 

Simple green to clean everything up.

Aerospace 303 to shine everything up.

 

Any before/after pics with the products mentioned?

 

I would pass on the simple green if you have anything polished. I used simple green on my MR2 with polished cam cover/intercooler piping, and it corroded everything pretty quick.

The best is a steam pressure washer with a light detergent. Just be sure not to get the spark plug hole soaking.

 

Another thing to do is to take some aluminum foil and wrap up the spark plug cables and the alternator.... you dont want to get those wet...

I use compressed air to blow dry my motor after a wash
