....lol don't key your own car. As far as i'm concerned, thats insurance fraud and its just not worth it. Here's is an option though. Dont know if its ever been done but I think its theoretically possible. Find someone with a white evo who wants to be black. Then spend the whole weekend trading every body panel.

if you did this the only real parts of the car you would have to paint is the roof. then of course you still have your engine bay and door jams that are different colors.

no i think the roof is detachable.... it would work out well for the white car even if it doesn't because white cars with a black roof looks sick. Of course your right about the engine compartment and the door sills. However, it wouldn't look too bad for the white car but white door sills in a black car would be terrible. But even if you wanted to paint the inner doors, it be a hel lof a lot cheaper than painting the whole damn car.

i think for a descent paint job...including the engine bay, door jams, trunk, etc...around $2000-$2500 is an average...the $1200-$1500 paint job is just to repaint your car the same color it is..there's a lot of trouble going into changing colors, hence, making it more costly...

Keying your car? I could never do that, but also your premium for your insurance will go up. Save the claims for something when you really need it. Don't get a decent paint job, get a great paint job so you won't have to worry about fading or such. It will cost you though a pretty penny, probably $4000-$6000 depending what kind of deal you strike. If worst comes to worst, just CF your whole car from bumper, panels, doors, roof....lol.

I dont know where you guys get your paint jobs, but normally if you pay $1000 for a paintjob, most likely it will look like $hit and will start to bubble or something. A good simple paint job will run you around $4000-$5000. But since you are changing color, it might be closer to the $5000... Now if you go custom stuff, good luck with your $5000-$8000 paint job (better not drive it anywhere... lol)

i second it.. around 5k for a decent-god quality job. Remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. why skimp for the money on a 30k car? Do it right..the first time.

It's going to be expensive, there's a lot of work involved.

You could go the cheap route and have Maaco paint it, but it will look like Maaco painted it.

You would save money by trading in your TB and buying WW. Just use the money you would spend on a good paint job as a down payment.

Oh, and a tri-coat or three stage paint job, like something with pearl in it, is going to be more than a standard job. So add a couple thousand to the accurate prices you've gotten, ie: $5000-$6000, so $7000-$8000 for a tri-stage job.
