I've seen it in the pocket below the dash, below that pocket, and on the passenger side of the dash beside the pocket. Another good place might be on the side of the center console, if it won't fit inside.

I can reach it from the driver's seat so it is not that big of a deal. However, I seldom use the record, peak and playback functions. I like that it is hidden and I can still use the glove box.

Did you have to drill a hole in the side of the glovebox or is that already there for one of the stoppers? (I guess I could go look)

same thing i thought, maybe only at the track or something like that. i have a lot of crap in my glove box and nothing in my armrest, so i figured arm rest, but the glove box would be an easier install.

I have mine in the cubby hole under the a/c controls. Sorry no pics right now, I thought I had one. It's perfect, out of the way and still use the space under it to hold my ipod.

Does screen clears the shifter in any gear. I actually opens right above the shifter say about 1/2 inch. If you were to keep your hand on the shifter the screen would most likely touch your knuckles.

As for reaching my controls, there's a button on top of the screen that activates the screen to move down for a period of a few seconds before it retracts itself.
It does not hit the HVAC controls and it has memory for last set position. U can always adjust the angle to your liking to avoid tapping.

But, I haven't had a problem w/ the screen yet. I'm quite comfortable w/ it's position.

sorry for the off-topic.
