Yea mines a gsr, but im sure my ayc is working just fine after last night . Mine has a top speed of 193kmh apparently, but since my speedo only goes to 180 im not sure, but it does keep going past 180, but i thought the uk evos were the fastest?
HAHA niiice. Yeah AYC's the s%#t!!! If your driving down the road and do some "slaloming" between the cats eyes and hear a howling sound =>DO NOT<= try to drift around round about! (The back end might lock up by itself) HAHA yeap speeking from experiece of a dodgy AYC.

Not sure about UK evo's. I know we get more power than the ozzys

lol uv made me wana go do sum slaloming now! lol. iv driven another evo4 (from a dealer) and it did make a howling noise when i turned left, i told them its probably the ayc and the car dealer said hed check it out, but of course i neva found out. I use the car dealers for the test drives and trademe to buy . on top gear they were talking about there uk evos having something like 280, 360 or 400hp depending on wat one you buy, because the uk probably dosnt have the power laws like japan does. haha anything beta than the ozzys is a good thing lol. wat mods would you recommend for and evo4 from past experience?

AWESOME!!!!
love old skool evo's, looks in great condition aswell.
personally i want either a III, VI, or IX. but man urs is sweet and 12K NZ is really cheap
i was looking at this evoIII(2 different ones actually) and they both want somewhere in the 20-30K range AUD
so when i get my evo i think i might just jump next door to pick one up, lol.

haha, yea 3's look really good ay, and VI's r my fav especially 6.5's. Evo3s r more expensive than 4's over here aswell, because 4's are so common. my car would sell for about 16000 in a used cars car yard here, but i bought it privately hense the good price. if you go on www.trademe.co.nz u will find heaps of awesome cars that we have in new zealand.

I see you cars already "tasty" low. Mine had a ralliart exhaust and HKS intake (thanks to previous owner). The battery was relocated to where your air box is (see pic of my VII). Looks like yours has the exhaust done? Depends on how much you want to spend dude. I'd start with a pod/straight intake. And a front strut brace will make a bit of difference. Also the intercooler piping if you got the coin. I see there full kits on trade me for 600ish!!!! Piping makes a big difference to throttle responce.

um its a rps exhaust, i was told its 93.8db and i comes from the turbo. i have a pod filter sitting in my garage, but i dont think i can fit it without piping? what will a strut brace do? makes it handle a lil better or sumthn? i no it makes it more rigid.

Yeah improves handling. You should be able to fit a pod where your air box is. Just need a adaptor to fit onto the air flow meter. See if this trader had them.

Assuming your filters not too big and is the right diameter should be sweeeeet azzzzz.

Tomau000, your evo4 should have a top speed of around 240km/h, my RS on the other hand has a top speed of 210km/h so I really doubt your car has RS ratios.

Also if you are hearing weird noises coming from the rear then you should get your AYC diff checked out as it shouldn't be making any noises, could probably do with a flush.

o ay? i lookd on a website that said my car has a top speed of 193kmh, although i got up 2 like 180 in 4th gear last night. i no my car has a rev limiter at like 7500rpm. i havnt tried to max out my top speed yet tho. my ratios r like 55 60 in first, 85 in 2nd, 120 in 3rd, 175 180 in 4th. nah im not hearing any weird noises aye, my ayc seems fine.

Honestly, you could be going backwards with an exposed air filter, the placement of the air filter on the 1-6's just means you are sucking in hot engine bay air.

To get around this i've gone to a Group A airbox:
