also any tips on making this beast run smoother or better or quicker or any advice would be appreciated.

Its standard except for the blow off valve, wheels, suspension and exhaust
.

Well first I would Recirculate the BOV so that it runs smoother and better. Then I would change the air filter fuel filter spark plus, not sure how the wires work on the Evo IV but if applicaple change them. So basicly after you got all the tune up stuff out of the way and she is running like a clock again I would move on to some form of boost control and enhanced fuel delivery. So then you should have a relatively fast Evo. Its very nice, also the RHD is soo coool. I wanna buy a RHD Skyline R32 or RHD Evo VI. Also maybe you might want to change the tires if they are cracked or worn or somehow not it tip top condition, and Adjust the pressure for you driving style.

VTA - vent to atmosphere, is when the BOV(blow off valve) when it opens all the compressed air u built up is released out so it doesnt "stall" ur turbo when the throttle plate is closed

BPV - by pass valve (or recirc), is same as above when u take ur foot off the pedal to change gears and the throttle plate closes it releases the pressure so it doesnt bounce back at ur turbo, but instead of wasting it to the air, it puts it back into the pipes so the turbo doesnt have to build up that pressure again
