Well... the title is kind of exaggerating things, but I did take last place... out of 2 Evos at the annual Mitsubishi Car Club Canada meet...

The worst part? I lost to a stock bodied GG Evo VIII MR... all it had was TBE, intake, BOV and uppper/lower IC pipes... UNTUNED.....

It seems like the judges everywhere do not know anything about cars. It has happened quite a bit lately.

 

No way for us to know without seeing the other Evo and knowing the judging criteria.

 

Maybe they didn't like the Gold with White look.

 

I told you what the other evo had? None of the parts were bling JDM stuff, just basic TBE, and intercooler piping... and then 2 mods that screw up performance if untuned... BOV and intake....

It seems to me the only criteria was performance mods... even if some of them hurt performance...

I finally know how it feels to be disappointed in the judging at these kinds of meets...

the Lancer that won best overall was a grey one with some random ugly red trim pieces, rims and a bunch of stickers...

What mods do you have on your car besides the rims.

 

I know the mods, but I don't recall "shows" being judged on power mods. Quite often, it's the opposite. Yes, I'd need to see it to know why. I know as far as I'm concerned, gold wheels are completely played out, and a white vortex generator to match the body is kinda blah. However, there's nothing truly wrong with your car to penalize it. I doubt the judges know about BOV and being tuned, though.

Anyway, you shouldn't be so disappointed. It was a show, and you don't have a show car. You should be at the track blowing people away anyway - that's true satisfaction.

 

It looks like your car is pretty close to stock in appearance too. It might have just come down to the judges liking grey more than white, who knows. It's just a car show, if you're that unhappy go to the track and show some canucks what an evo can do.

Warrtalon: I know shows usually aren't based on power mods, that's why I was confused.

My car is pretty clean in terms of not having any crazy body kit, though I guess some people might not like the white on gold look.

Perhaps you had more nicks in the front than the other one?

I'm no judge, and if I were I'd probably suck, but I know car shows can be tough. Someone has to win, and it's understandly upsetting if it isn't you.
