Clear Bra owners - Where do you have rock strikes?

Hi Clear Bra Owners,

What sections of your car did you NOT cover in clear bra but wish you had? Do you regret not installing extended hood protection or rocker panel protection? I am investigating clear bras for the IX MR that I am about to buy .

Also, has anyone here covered their REAR bumper in clear bra to keep the city bump-parkers (grrr - learn how long your car is idiot!) from chewing up the rear bumper? How did that work out?

I am considering purchasing the standard 3m/Xpel hood, fender and mirror kit as well as their front bumper kit but wonder if I should just suck it up and cover every part I can! You can see what the xpel kits cover here:

Thanks and Cheers!

I have a clear bra. I wish I'd purchased the extended hood coverage. Mine is just a little triangle on the front fenders. You can see little chips where the bra ends. My clear bra came with the mirrors, front bumper, hood and the tiny fender triangle pieces.

Some stupid person scratched my rear bumper from parrallel parking... I don't know if a clear bra will really help it because the hit caused ripples in the bumper plastic. Plus 90% of the time I park indoors or very far away from other cars. I have some chips on the side skirts but I don't really notice it - you can get this coverage if you're picky about that. If you frequently have passengers, you might want to get clear bra behind the door handles. It prevents scratches from inconsiderate people's finger nails.

Thanks for the info ZK!

If I was going to use my current car as an indication, I would get the extended hood coverage too, as I have dings all over the hood. I thought that maybe the rise for the vent in the Evo's hood would protect some of the paintwork between it and the windscreen and thus allow me to go with the basic coverage. From what ZK is writing, it sounds like I should reconsider and get the extra length clear bra for the hood.

I too have a favorite parking spot near my place where there is no room in front or behind me for another car to park. This goes a long way towards preventing bumper damage. It is just those times when I go into NYC have no choice in street parking that I worry about.

Anyone here wish they had clear bra near the wheels to protect from rocks thrown off of one's own tires?

Thanks for the bump!

Can anyone else add? If you have a clear bra and no extraneous rock chips let us hear that too!

For the extended hood coverage, it is mainly going to help you because of the bigger fender pieces. The standard fender piece (like I have) is a joke. The standard hood coverage is good enough for me.

My friend got the sideskirts clear bra'd and the lower half of the door. He was running 18x9.5 +15 wheels on his Evo and those things kick up tons of stuff on the side of the car. If you drive in snow or dirt, I would get the side protection. My car doesn't see snow or dirt.

Once you get a clear bra, you notice all the chips around it because there's no chips where the bra exists. It really makes you want to just clear bra the whole car...

I have the ventureshield kit extended coverage on my evo - the clear bra does work - and the rock chips happen where the clear bra is not present. the only thing to keep in mind is to keep the clear bra clean and waxed at all times. good product though for keeping the evo looking nice and new!

ZK, I see what you mean about the fender coverage being nicer with the Xpel extended hood package...that may be worth the extra cost to me.

And yes, I am going to be driving the car through the winter (when we have sand and stones on the roads) and probably will take it to a HDE too. In both those situations I have a ton of crud being flung at my car .

I guess I am convinced that the extended hood package is a good thing and that covering the rear-bumper has questionable value. Maybe I will have to look into other ways of protecting the rear bumper.

Nice, you can hardly see the kit. So, do you have any concentrations of rock strikes in the locations not covered by the clear bra? (i.e. if you had to do it again would you cover any additional paintwork?)
