yes you can keep the rear stock crash beam with a JDM bumper.
just gotta do some cutting and welding. need help? PM me....
would be better to retain a crash beam than to not have one at all. if you get rear ended.......

FYI, insurance companies can (and will) deny all claims if you tamper any safety equipment...so even if you mod the crash beam to fit the rear bumper, you still wont get covered by your insurance
with that in mind, anyone know any answer to the original topic?

i don't know of many insurance companies that would know enough to be able to tell the difference between the stock crash beam and a modified one unless you told them. as far as my insurance company knows, the JDM rear came stock.
i suppose if you leave it unpainted so its obvious its been tampered with then yes, you might have a problem, but if youre not a complete dolt id say you can get away with it
Then when your adjusted blatantly sees cuts and welds on your crash beam, he'll just write you up for negligence. sucks.
Do you think insurance adjusters went to tech school and weld things in their garages on the weekend?
No...they won't know ANY difference if it was re-welded or modified in any way.
It's like asking them what size turbo is under your hood...clueless.

i guess ill be driving around with my jdm bumper AND insurance while you wont be
exactly. with state farm, when my EVO was in an accident they didn't ask me anything about anything. they just replaced everything that got damaged. aftermarket parts and all. carbon lip, carbon trunk, jdm rear, tire, front bumper, no questions asked. all i did was provide them with reciepts for the stuff, told them what parts to order AND who to order it from, and they replaced it all. they saw that i had no crash beam at all, never even noticed it. $7000 worth of parts and labor, $500 deductible, 0 questions.
they don't denyed anybody insurance as far as i know, because you don't have the crash beam.I never heard anybody who got denyed. But they can though.
Just as they can deny if you modify the crash beam... But the chances are.....?
To make it fit the crash beam, you need to cut out. So it will be visible, if they check it.
And if they actually chek it, its a big chance they know what they looking for = excuses. Of course who will be looking for crash beam on Evo, that person will know how it has to look like. So you doomed with or witouth the modifyed crash beam...
