buffing

Has anyone seen a good lesson on buffing a car I got a var. speed commercial grade buffer a buddy gave me. but what kind of cut do I need to use for swirls and scratches so on.

i would recommend joining an auto detail forum such as meguiar's online or autogeekonline.net/forums great information there on the use of commercial grade buffers. if anything start with a dual orbital polisher then work your way to using the high speed one you got.

You have to be very very careful using a normal buffer because you can eat into the clear and even the paint. Like ^^^ said get a dual orbital polisher to start with.

For swirl marks it depends on what stage to use for each brand. if you go to online detailing stores you can find which stage works for what you want.

Brands that are good are Poorboys(good stuff for being cheap), Klasse, Zaino, Sonus(my favorite), and so on.

Autopia.org is really really good place to learn about detailing and you can even download their written tutorial on how to's from cleaning wheels to detailing interiors.
