I'd really only give this install a 3.5 or 4.0 out of ten ----
The install took me about 1.5 hours after I got all the gear together. It involved removing the lower dash cover, the upper & lower steering column covers, and the gauge cluster, as well as the ACD and mirror control panel just to the side of the display. That stuff was easy. 10mm bolts, phillips screws, and needle nose pliers were all that was needed to remove all that. No ***** required.
The kit (from Japanparts.com) included a new wiring sling with an additional ignition control unit, zip-ties and knick-knacks, and the button starter assembly. The wiring sling required you to tap (via a provided clip) into one of the wires in the back of the gauge cluster, but once you found the wire, that was easy too.
The toughest part of the whole install (the part that required *****) was taking a 35mm holesaw to the dash and drilling a gaping hole into my pride and joy! But after I wiped away my tears, I was done in fifteen minutes with the installation. All that remained was reinstalling the dash components (which went really fast). Now, I did take some extra time to secure the new wiring with a few zip-ties of my own, but that was nothing.
So, all in all, I can honestly say that my fear of starting the project and getting in over my head was far greater than the actual challenge of the install. As long as you pour over the instructions (100% in Japanese, btw) you'll eventually work up the courage to get it done.
Sorry for the long-winded explanation!
