why so few 19 inch Wheels??

EDIT: Oh jeez.. I just saw how old this post is, sorry for keeping it up...
Not many people have 19's because not many people use the evo for show only purposes or are not willing to risk 19's on their street car. Enzo's probably have a larger overall wheel and tire diameter, so 19 can be ok since there is still plenty of tire (infact they do have a larger rolling diameter - SBRP245/35 ZR19 for the front). For street driving wheel sizing is a tradeoff between looks, ride, and strength. 19 to me (and most other's on the board it seems) just doesn't look right, it'll give you a rougher ride (dependant on tire), and is more susceptible (sp?) to bends and curb-checks. If you like it, get it cause it's your cars not anybody elses and they don't have to look at it (or ride in it) if they don't want to.
Oh, yeah, it'll probably give you loss of acceleration and braking due to the rotational mass moving away from the center of rotation, but if you get light enough wheels and tires, this can be minimal.

IMHO 19-in rims and a rubber-band low-profile tire look awkward on an EVO and betray its rally heritage. 19-in rims belong on high-speed touring cars like the Aston Martin Vanquish.
Liandrin11 mentioned that F1 cars run relatively small rims. They run 13-in, in fact, due to regulations. Front tires are 350/45 (Michelin) or 355/50 (Bridgestone). Rears are 380/45R. Not exactly low profile. I'm getting this from an interesting article on F1 tires in Road & Track:
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=1
The article goes on to mention that the ultimate F1 rim would be as large as 18-in, as is the case with current GT cars. Optimal rear tires would be as wide as 20in, with fronts around 16in. However, Bridgestone's Hirohide Hamashima had this comment: "If we make the wheel bigger, 15-in or 16-in, maybe the tire performance is too much for a human being."

its not even necessarily the wieght of the wheel, it's where the weight is on the wheel. so you could have a 19 inch wheel that weighs less then a 17 inch and the 17 will still be superior performance wise. the further more weight is from the center the slower your going to me moving. where a 19 has metal on the outsides and 17 will sporting rubber. this is why drag radials are like 13 inch.

Either way a 19 inch wheel is not going to hurt any times and will enhance the look by 10 fold. Not to mention the sidewall of a 19 inch tire is much smaller and harder than that of a 17 inch wheels so streetable performance should actually increase...not decrease.

hahhaa I dont mind ppl putting 19s on their evo.. but what bothers me the most is that these ppl upsize to 19 in diameter but forgot to upsize the width. taller wheel but narrow... looks ugly. oh and we call those sunken wheel syndrom

to me 18" is sufficient enough.... not all people like the 19".... to me its just like seeing a beautiful hot chic that is 5 feet tall with 42C racks..... out of proportion.... just my 2cents opinion..

Because its SLOW!!
And has no TORQUE!
Plus its twitchy, exhibits large amounts of snap oversteer and oh yeah it looks pretty
I should know, I had one and I hated that POS.
To make things worse most s2000 owners are cocky and thing they drive exotics or something. And on s2ki.com you see them talkin BS about how cool there $2000 intake is that gave them 2hp.............. or there $2500 titanium exhaust that upped them 4hp.
I remember I went to a s2000 meet and they were bad talkin the evo...one of the a**holes said "I will take my 9grand and 6speed over a evo any day"
What a ingnorant fool.
The car is plain gay......but thats my opinion
Its pretty but......... thats it
