GG with black RPF1s

The wheels are 17x8, 15.5lbs, stock Advans. They were professionally painted by the Streettuned Motorsports' house painter. I apologize for the dirt; they normally look cleaner.

I would have went with the 17x8.5 or 17x9's. The black looks great on graphite grey

I considered it and it was tempting to say the least. I didn't want the extra weight and the 17x8s mesh well with the factory geometry.

Thank you very much!

The word "drop" leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I have a hard time out-driving the suspension as it is (stock Bilstein setup). This said, I'm in the process of researching springs. I'm only interested in better handling and I have a difficult time getting past modifying the factory geometry.

If I can get a hold of an Evo suspension guru, I may consider some quality coilovers with a thorough setup, but I'm really in no hurry.

Errr...RPF1s in 18x8.5 are 19lbs; 18x9.5 (as you cited) are even heavier. 17x8 are 15.5lbs. My stock BBS' are a little less than 18lbs. I have no idea what your point may be, but clearly the numbers tell the whole story.

You might want to fire a PM to Robi from Robispec, I've driven 3 seperate IX's with his various setups and can confirm that they really transform the car. Help keep the tire on the road and really give you a feeling of confidence compared to stock MR suspension. (as good as it is stock)

<sigh> The car is stored during the Winter. We live in a private community with virtually no traffic, and a plow service. There was no snow/ice on our the roads today.

This is the first time I drove the car just around our neighborhood at no more than very low speed. As the car sits for several months, it's a good idea to drive it in hopes of warming-up the drivetrain and getting rid of the condensation.

If you search my posts, you'll see that I'm one of the most vocal advocates of not driving around on the Advans. This case can hardly be called "driving around." I've had ~30 years of experience driving in snow and ~20 years auto-x'ing (sometimes in snow) and I like to think that I'm aware of the situation. Thanks for the advice, though.
