My Bday Trip [PICS]
My Bday Trip [PICS]
Hey Fellas,
Well my birthday was two weekends ago (April 26th) and I had a nice little trip planned. It was great overall and I've been meaning to post this up but I've been really busy lately with finals and what not (not to mention I left my laptop at Mitch's, DOH!). So here's the story and pics (and there's a ton, she's a picture freak)
I just bought my Evo a few months ago (back in February) bone stock besides a MBC. As my birthday approached, and I enjoyed stock as long as possible, I began to save up my extra cash for my first round of mods.
So I decided that it was time to head up to Chitown and meet up with my good friend and previous owner of my Evo, Mitch (aka Mitchubishi on the forums).
Friday April 25th
9:00AM - Departure
Me and my gf are sitting outside of the bank waiting for it to open. I wanted to get on the road a lot earlier, but had to wait until that morning for my check to clear into my account. Finally they open up, I get in and out, and we are on the road.
12:00PM - Arriving at AMS
So it was about a 3 hour drive or so with a few stops for food and bathroom breaks. We arrive at AMS to pick up my TBE w/ Test Pipe.

Unpacking The Exhaust

Time for something I'm sure more than a few of you have been through before...fitting the exhaust in the car. It wasn't the most pleasant to have that thing going from the passenger side floor over the E-brake and into the back seat, but we made it happen.

Few Parking Lot Pics.

1:00PM - Mitch's and Devo Tuning
Arriving at Mitch's Place

Headed To Devo (Right Before Getting Stuck Behind That Damn Bus)

Finally Gettin Away From The Bus

1:30PM - Arriving At Devo
At this point we get to Devo with the exhaust and can't wait to get that thing out of the inside and put on outside
Unfortunately no pics while there...we were extremely tired at this point and basically chilled and napped in the showroom while it was being installed and tuned.
3:00PM? - Back To Mitch's
It was time to head back to Mitch's for the day. We had a lot of fun on the trip back with the new exhaust and fresh tune. +1 to Devo for a great install and tune and +1 to AMS for a awesome exhaust (it sounds like a beast and pulls like a cheetah
)
I let Mitch reunite with her and we went on his own little "track" he has by his house. I'm pretty sure he fell in love all over again and it was a total blast...that boy knows how to drive
Then it was time to take his baby out for a spin to get a feel for his new Robispec suspension.

Right Before Passin This Guy For A Lil Fun

Everything after that point can be summed up into one word: amazing.
No way could we get any pictures or anything during the ride...had to hang on for dear life. Robispec FTMFW.
At this point we are so exhausted it's not funny. We go pick up his gf from school, hang out for a while, go to a movie, and head to the hotel.
Saturday April 26th
It's my birthday! Got a nice gift that night in the hotel but we won't go there
We give Mitch a call and of course he's out doing what he does best, detailing some cars. So we go and meet up with him.
Arriving At The Detail Scene

The Lambo

The Ford GT

The Porche

The Escalade

The Audi

After he was finished with all that, we head back to his house to do some "final touches" to finish the day.
Gettin Ready To Lift Her Up (Little Dirty, Sorry
)

The GF Takin The Wheels Off

Now for the final thing before the end of the day. About a month ago someone rubbed up against my car in the Walmart parking lot. Now usually I park a thousand miles away from everyone, but today I was in a hurry and a front spot was wide open. I go inside and come out to this (learned my lesson, sorry for ****ty cellphone pics):

Mitch Buffin Her Out

After less than 30 minutes, 99% of it was gone. I was in shock. Given an estimate of $2,000+ from a local body shop and it looks like brand new within literally under 30 minutes. Thanks a million Mitch!
We gave our cars both complete washes and it was a beautiful sight...one that I have no pictures to show for! DOH! I'll update this post with some after pics once the weather is nice and I wash her again (damn black cars
)
In conclusion, this was one of the (if not the) best birthday's I ever had. I got to make my first "independent" road trip, visit AMS first hand, reunite with my good buddy Mitch, start my journey of modding, checked out some amazing cars, realized how bad I want that Robispec suspension and to keep modding
, experiencing Chicago period, and so much more. Thanks for reading and viewing my experience (even though this doesn't even cover close to the whole thing). Thanks again to Mitch, AMS, Devo, and of course all of you here at EvoM. Can't wait to do it again and see what the future holds

She doesn't work on cars that much, but I'm gettin her into it (as you can see
)She has a 97 Eclipse GST so I've got some work for her to do
Sorry things were really hectic and time was way short and things slipped my mind.
Wish I could STAY up there! I loved it, so much more car scene and things to do than around here.
I'll DEFINITELY see you next time I come up with the next round of mods
