Just got my JDM Rear/Cobb Exhaust!
I have the cobb exhaust but on the IX US bumper. Very stealth looking and quiet!
I seriously think this is as quiet as full 3" turbo back exhaust can get with out any tapering. I cut a peice of card board just under 3" diameter and stuck it in the muffler and it fell through to the other end to varify no tapers.
Tone wise, it is very mellow, slightly louder verson of stock. I'm not sure how it sounds from outside when driving but inside the car the tone is very forgiving to the ears and you can wisper to the passengers in the back. In fact I can hear the 4g63 rattling / transmission rattling noises during normal driving.
During WOT the exhaust note elevates with a nice higher tone and not obnoxiously loud.
Trust me if your looking for a quiet 3" turbo back system this is it. Every one have different oppinions about whats quiet, mine involves being able to hear a pin drop inside the car or having the road/tire noise over power the exhaust note. This is the closest you'll ever get with out tapers and I'm very happy with it. Previously I had the Tanabe catback which was very quiet. But when I put a resonated test pipe (still using the stock downpipe) it was a nice and deep tone but a bit on the louder side for my taste. The cobb turbo back in my opinion is quiet than the Tanabe Medallion.
I am however using a Megan racing resonated test pipe with my cobb turbo back. The original testpipe by cobb is not resonated, so I dont know how much of a sound/loudness difference it will be.
