black ets fmic

i was thinking about getting the black ets front mount for my apex silver viii and i was wondering if anyone has this setup so i could see what it looks like! thanx in advance!

every single black ic i see no matter how good the coating is it will still chip and discolor over time. And sending the ic out to redo the process is not cheap as they have to remove whats on there now plus dirt and grime to recoat it.

yea didnt think about that i drive like 650+ miles a week so it will get chipped off pretty fast...bummer...id still like to see some pics tho so i can getmad because im not gettin one haha

its anodized, not painted, so the metal itself is black

The metal itself is not black. Being an intercooler they probably use type II anodizing which is only mildly durable. You will still eventually chip and wear it off.

Standard anodizing slightly impregnates the metal being treated, so on the surface, it does in a way "change the metal black" as you put it. This impregnation is only very slightly below the surface though (we're talking thousandths of an inch deep), and the ano can be scratched or dented through fairly easily.

Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't like it at all!! I like the idea and maybe cause it's on a silver car, but it doesn't look right to me.

well i was thinking black front mount because i have black weds sports and im planning on the jdm tail and headlights and tints i think it would look pretty good
