I sanded it with sandpaper. Don't remember what grit but two coats of primer, 2 coats of red paint and 2 coats of clear. Dont really drive the car much being in the military but it's holding up fine...Here is a closer pic..

So after you remove the emblem there is a bracket behind it ? I want to do mine,But i really haven't looked at it that close...How easy is this to do ?

Yea, there is a bracket welded to the mesh. The only ways to get it off is to cut it with wire cutters or replace the mesh. If you get different mesh, though, chances are it won't match the mesh on the hood vent and rest of the bumper. Here's a pic of mine:



I still haven't removed it. I'll be removing this later on. Most of the cars you see badgeless have cut them off and have small holes in the mesh. It's usually not noticeable if done right though.

That looks SO much better then with the badge...Now i see what you mean with the bracket tho,I def would remove that as well when i do it... I might just have to replace all the mesh if i mess it up to bad..
