another thing:
i dont know if you noticed, but i used a nut with a built on washer that was the exact size of the child car seat belt dots on the rear seats. they acted as a perfect cirle cover-up for the little factory markings so i wouldnt spray over them. and i used double sided tape to temporarily hold them on while i painted, so that when i was done, the rears would look oem with the little seat markers still on there.

Wow! Good job dude, your seats look a lot better now. I'm going to have to do this but in black, I love how that other dudes seats came out. Yours look awesome too! I'm excited!
i decided i was tired of looking at these blackish/irridecent blue seats in the middle of my red, black/grey, and carbon fiber car.
so i spent exactly 5 hours from start to finish, using arosol fabric dye to change that hideous blue into a charcoal grey.
i used two cans of the duplicolor paint/dye which came out to like 15 bucks and used a whole roll of thin blue painters tape and a whole roll of thick blue painters tape and alot of newspaper bs and mailbox adds.
i removed the seats and taped everything off perfectly by pushing the very edge of the tape into the seam where the sued and blue come together.
wheni was done and the seats were dry, i used my heat gun on the surface and then rubbed it all down with a downey sheet to soften it up from the drying process. they will get back to soft on their own, but the downy sheet just speeds up the process... and then your seats smell clean too.
i'll let the pics do the talking. *pics were taken with my Samsung i760 phone..
enjoy and do it your self, its not that difficult.

nice job
This deserves to be in a "The Best Of" Section. I would have killed for this mod when I first bought my Rally Red in 03. I hated the blue inserts, even looked into a custom leather upholstery job. But somewhere along the way, I recognized that it was probably a Japanese Culture thing.
One famous Japanese drummer often wears one bright blue and one bright red shoe. Kind of different for an old brown leather slip-on-guy like myself, but what the heck!?! To each their own.
NOW I'm faced with a dilemma ... do I finally rid myself of the obnoxious (IMHO) blue inserts, or do I keep that Suave Urban Japanese color contrast that has come to represent the first Evo's to hit the US Market?
I mean, the Red seem to be the most commonly pictured Evo back then.
I considered every other color Evo, but ultimately couldn't find a Black with a Sunroof anywhere locally. I never would normally buy a red car, but I saw it the same way you might buy a Red Ferrari, or Triumph, or E-Type Jag. It was destined to be a classic sports car, and sports cars look great in red.
When it came to my interior though, I envied every other Evo owner that had a different color 03 back then ... But now I'm not sure I want to let it go
I love these kind of problems though
My hat is off to you, great job
