Anyone have a shot of one straight on from the front of the car or behind? Just curious how high up it is...

Here's the closest pic to straight back I've got of my WW one:

And here's one closeup off-center:

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the pics guys. I'm liking it a lot. Looking for the best price now. Anyone suggestions on where to purchase would be appreciative. Would love to have it come painted as well.

Standard Rear Wing

Anybody have any pics of an EVO VIII with a standard wing, instead of the carbon fiber one? My dealer here has no vehicles with the wing or pics of the same. Wife is riding me about the carbon fiber wing....thought the standard wing may be an easy in for me, but wanted to see what it looks like.

Heed the wife and your conscience. If you have doubts, get the low wing. Visibility is better. High speed handling (+100) mph is marginally better with the big wing, but there is also marginally more drag too.

Or get both. Buy the car with a high wing and put on a low wing. it's a hassel, but then you'll know for sure.

Spoiler Depot will paint and ship a low wing for $179, or you can buy one off of the classified section here for between $50 and $200. If you are lucky, you can find an Evo wing in your color. Otherwise plan on paying another $100-$300 for paint, depending on where you have it done.

OZ ralley wing works too. OEM wings, Evo and 2003 OZ ralley (not ralleyart), have original bolt patterns, spoiler depot needs trunk to be re-drilled.

If you choose this method, make sure you get the high wing with the car (it'll be cheaper to buy that way) as you won't have the middle hole in the trunk. Use 2 sided tape for the low wing.

You'll also have all of the brake light apparatus in place. to switch the wings back and forth you'll need to extend the length of wire on the small wing by splicing in 2 pieces of about 6' of wire.

I went through the same thing you are going through. I feel your pain I'm running the low wing now. Cops don't hassel me anymore.

Did you get harassed by the local establishment? I use to attract them like tics on a country dog when I was younger, but knock on wood, have been relatively tic free for quite a number of years, despite driving in recent past a Ferrari Red Lotus Esprit and currently a Speed Yellow Boxster. Has the car been good to you?

Undercover cops were tailgating me for a couple of blocks. Being wary, I got on the gas, took a few quick turns and put about 100 yards on them in about 30 seconds. Looked back and saw a little red light. Didn't want to chance being on the news that night so I pulled over.

Two plain clothesed cops got out one with her hand on her gun. The other one says "going a little fast?". I say "tailgating a little?". He laughs, asks for my license and reg, hands them back, says "slow down, we just like to know who's in the neighborhood, and your wing isn't doing you any favors".

I got home and yanked the thing off that night. I wasn't that fond of it anyway 'cause I use the car for business.

Oh Yeah it's been good. There's definitly a certain crowd that gets into this car. If you look at the car, it's value is more than the sum of it's parts. Build quality is cheap, engine is buzzy, my floor mat is already worn through with 2500 miles on the car, paint is crap, tires wear fast, clutch sucks. It's a fugly little car.

That being said, I can't think for the money any other car I'd rather own right now, except for the STI, which costs more and is more difficult to mod.

It just out performs, for the money, anything on the road. It's just so much fun to drive. And right now, it is very rare.

The EVO looks funny with a small rear spoiler. There is an RS at my local dealership and they installed a Kaminari rear spoiler and it hangs out past the rear deck lid (to about the bumper), but is about the hieght of a regular spoiler and it looks gay as hell!
