New camera, couple of quick pics...
Alright guys, I bought a D40 not too long ago and haven't had much time to play around with it. I'm new to the DSLR world, and would love some tips on how to improve. (Yes I have seen the sticky about DSLR photography.)
I snapped a few of the car the other day after washing it, and installing amber side markers (early christmas present from gf) before going to work. Sorry for the crappy location, didn't have time to go find a good spot to take pics, so the driveway had to do.
These were took on the auto setting of the camera right out of the box. If anyone could give me some tips on different lighting or different settings on the cam, I would definitely like to hear them. Thanks in advance

Thanks guys, I'm really glad that SC doesn't get that much snow. When we get crap like that, it is usually just freezing rain or ice. And I never take my good cars out then, even though they just pust sand on the road here in certain areas, lol. I feel for you guys that have to drive your cars through all that crap.

Just my suggestions! Get a circular polarizer for your lens to reduce any unwanted reflections. Use a shallow depth of field to eliminate any distractions from busy backgrounds. Your photos are nice and clear but try to use your eye before snapping the shutter to eliminate any unwanted items in the background like the red car and telephone pole. Just my .02 please don't be offended but you asked for tips......

8URVTEC Thanks man.
I planned on getting a circular polarizer, neutral density, and uv filters. I am by no means offended.
I really hate how many cars we own, lol. My house isn't good for taking pictures. No room to move about or position the car without having anything in the backgrounds of the pics. I was just shooting some quick pics. Thanks for the tips man. Is there anything else you can let me in on??
