its really not all about the photoshop skills its about if u have the right camera/lense with the right settings and if u know wat your doing. then photoshop/photomatrix is then wat comes in handy in converting it to hdr. it takes alot of practice im in the process of learning how to do it getting the hang of it. its really cool to learn!!
worst idea for a thread ever. just give ppl the idea that this cool technique can make any stupid picture they take look good. nobody ever cared before to go out and try photography until they learned about hdr. Its ridiculous, a good photographer doesnt need to trick ppl into thinking a photo is good by using a fancy photoshop technique. For some scenes it can work out beautifully... however when people truly know how to use it.
a good example of what i mean. the photo isnt bad, i like it more than some others but you problem could have easily been avoided with what i was saying. the point of this is pretty much for getting different areas of a scene in the correct exposure, such as your car, without your sky being blown out. to avoid your problem you could have metered the scene in different areas to come up with the shots you needed.
i really annoys me when people just go out there and use a P&S to take 3 bracketed shots and smush together to get a crazy *** overdone picture. This IS missing the point of hdr. if it still doesnt make sense why,,, then you really really shoudnt be doing this

Nikon D40 without a tripod so I'm using RAWs and doing psuedo HDRs.
I also know nothing about real photography. I just mess around which I think is the idea and essence of photography. There is no set way to make good looking pictures.
Shoot me for it.
