body-colored hood vent (photoshopped)

Just thought I'd share what I think looks pretty good. The real thing would be a bit smoother w/ less black in the shadows, but that's my photoshop skillz limitations kicking in here.

Chris in HB, hope you don't mind me using your photo. Thanks!

If you have a different color evo front-end shot you want photoshopped, post the original pic here and I'll do it up for you.

This is exactly what I wanted to do to my car but I need to find spare hood vent and grille to have backup parts in case it does not turn out. Anyone with a CF hood upgrade want to sell me their vents?

The problem with this mod lies with the rubber seal that goes around. You can't paint it, so in your photo-chops you should leave it black.

We could also try not installing the seal but I don't know if it is possible and what it would look without the seal. I have not taken it apart yet. I want the spare parts first.

Could you try photo-chopping these leaving the rubber seal black:

There is a guy on here by the name of RaleighEVOVIII and he has done this to his silver EVO. You might want to send him a PM and I am sure you he can get you some real photos of what it looks like.

xtnct, it's too hard for me to chop that up on silver. I see what you mean by the rubber seal though, that could be covered by plastic or something I suppose... either way I don't think it'd look too good w/ the black seal around it.

Bet you tarmac folks are pleased as punch at this thread.

dude, if you want the rain shield silver, just drive the car harder. it'll turn silver on it's own when the cheap factory paint burns off lol believe me, i know.

I agree, the black does look better. It provides a nice touch of contrast, without standing out too much.
