Painted Key Hole Black& Front Emblem

Ok so I decided to paint my trunk key hole black.. and hopefully the emblem once I get the courage to remove it.

Pics of my progress up here:

http://www.justchil.net/gallery/evo_trunk_keyhole

Here is a pic I photoshopped before doing anything... Removed emblem and black keyhole:

Another pic I photoshopped... black keyhole and emblem.. didn't turn out super clean but you can get the idea:

I'll have some pics up of the real thing later today... Any comments, suggestions, etc?

i painted my emblems black months ago and then sent them to another member on here. sorry not original. keyhole is tho, but seems to be too much work for what you aer getting. couldnt you jsut leave it on the trunk and tape it off?

I painted my emblem on the car. It's a pain in the *** to mask it off but it is possible. The only reason I left it on was due to the fact I would ruin the sticky stuff while taking it off.

I'm not going to paint anything while its still on the car :P

They key lock thing is super easy to get off.. takes about 3 mins to take it off... even easier to put back in.

I've got the emblem off now.. doing the prep work for paint. I'll probably leave it off for a while to see how I like it.

Wasnt really trying to be original.. just wanting to get rid of the chrome on the back since the headlights are de-chromed

plus im bored and don't have any money for additional mods :P

just take all teh sticky material from the emblem and tehn remount it with double sided mounting tape that you cut out to be in the shape of the emblems

It's pretty much light panting anything.. I sanded with 200/400 cleaned with alcohol then 2 coats of primer.. sanded with 1000.. another coat primer.. let that dry for a while.

then 1 coat of paint.. wet sanded with 1000 then 2 more coats of paint.. after letting it sit overnight I hit it with the hair dryer for a few then put some zaino on it

Emblem ready for primer

1st coat of primer

Looks good man. My Tarmac Black Evo has the key hole painted black, all emblems (including the star in the back and the front) removed, the rear reflectors and side marker blinkers painted black. All the lights show through when on also. Also, my tailpipe is painted black. I think it looks great. All black. Next the intercooler gets Swaintech and my tails and headlights get the housings blacked out. My car is going to be invisible.
