First Mods on my IX
thanks, it helps in florida :>
I increased high octane fuel map by 0.2 clicks from 3500rpm to 5000rpm. 0.3 clicks from 5000rpm to 7000rpm.
The a/f is now somewhat straight now. My goal is to get it around 11:5:1. Its still rich as hell after 7000rpm so I will have to bump that up.
I didn't see any knocks using the stock ROM, but I figured they may crop up once I leaned it out a bit. I am now getting 1-2 counts after 5000rpm. I will have to retard the timing 2-3 degrees now.
The pulls felt a bit better, but I am sure the knocks are hurting any gains I may have had with the tune...
I will revise the ROM and post again after another run.

noise was the biggest incentive on getting the HKS over other exhausts because I know its one of the quietest. Ive seen youtube videos of many other exhausts and they are annoying. My evo is my daily driver so there is no way I am putting on a loud exhaust.
Maybe ill make a video later of it..

I got my tires, giro stage 1 brake kit, swift springs and harness bar. I gotta get this crap installed for next weekends autocross
I was hoping to get a6 245/40/17, but they didnt have 4 in the same size...I ended up with 225/45/17 R6 tires. :*(

brake pads, lines, springs and front camber plates are installed...all in 4 hours.
I took a drive through some curvy roads to bed the pads in and see how the car handles. The front push is almost all gone! I cranked the wheel to the point where I always got push and it felt good so I kept cranking and crankin!
A corvette guru that rode with me said the $300 for the swift springs are quite a good value to make the car handle so much better. The camber plates have kicked the camber out a bit on the front which may have contributed...
Cant wait to kick *** next weekend with the stickies. Ill be taking pictures and maybe even video

i would switch the aem wideband if you don't plan on using the aem stand alone ecu, go for a innovative wideband set up, the ability of their set up to re calibrate itself will insure accuracy at any elevation, track, even specific to that certain day.
well, its been about 2 weeks since I went to the autox. I got the fastest time!

Unfortunately I blew a wheel bearing and the transfer case. I believe it was because of wheel hop I was getting when coming out of a turn on throttle. I may need better shocks because I don't think the stock IX shocks can handle the swift springs once you are loaded in a corner on the power.
Mitsubishi voided my warranty as I tried to get them to fix it. I knew there could be a chance of them doing it. I talked to the corporate warranty case manager and he claims it was the exhaust that put a larger load on the transfer case which was completely untrue. The ACD may have been locking/unlocking rapidly when wheel hop was occurring. The wheel hop wasn't too bad, but it was still happening.
I already replaced the wheel bearing and I am tearing out the transfer case tomorrow to get built by sheptrans. I am also going to put in ACT HDSS clutch while I am at it.
The car was definitely handling quite good with the swift springs and tein camber plates. I was on street tires and I beat everyone my first run! Then everybody heard I still had slicks to put on! They were about done for the day
The girodisc stage 1 kit performed quite good. I couldn't avoid the abs which actually made the car brake quite badly!!! I need to take that dam abs fuse out!! The Evo abs is very intrusive.
Overall I am happy. My car should get fixed by next weekend. Sebring is next

I thought I would give an update.
Turns out my Evo is now on its 3rd clutch. It already had a ACT HDG6 in it. I had suspicions it had an aftermarket clutch when I got the evo, but I never drove an Evo at the time and I figured they come with a harsh clutch. There were missing bolts on the bell housing and there were missing grommets on the transmission and the clutch fork boot was missing. The last people that touched the car was a Diamond rated Mitsubishi dealer that fixed my 5th gear grind. They never mentioned the car having an aftermarket clutch and missing parts.
I replaced all the missing bolts with honda bolts (they look identical) and missing covers. My car now has a Shep stage 2 transfer case and a rebuilt clutch by Tampa Clutch. My car has been running for a while already with the Transfer case and clutch and so far so good!
I just decided to rebuild the clutch since I was going to get an ACT anyways.

worn out act clutch that came out of the car
