First Mods on my IX

Thought I would post some first mods I put on the car and my impressions.

I have owned the car for 7 months already and it has been my daily driver. I bought nearly bone stock. It only has a Greddy RS BOV, head unit and tint. I went to the track one time and ran 13.5 @ 101mph. It was about 45F that night I ran. I also did one autocross day with the car. The stock Falkens were pitiful and the car understeered pretty badly along with alot of sidewall wear. Hopefully tires, springs and tein camber plates will take care of it...

Things I installed in the last 2 weeks...
  • HKS turbo back exhaust (o2 housing to muffler)
  • Carbing under panel
  • Tactrix cable for logging with evoscan
  • plx300 wideband

Things I ordered/will be ordering or are waiting to be installed...
  • tein upper camber plates
  • aem uego wideband (for serial logging in evoscan)
  • swift springs
  • falken azenis rt-615 tires on stock IX wheels
  • ebc red pads
  • motul fluid

I plan on autoxing the car a bit as you can tell.

So far only after installing the TBE the car definitely feels it has about 30hp more and it doesn't die as quickly at higher revs. I also noticed the turbo spools quicker and much smoother. The exhaust is actually only a little louder then stock when cruising at lower speeds and at idle, but when you get on it its like uncorking hell.

I already made a small log with evoscan but my battery is about dead so I will have to wait for the new one to arrive. Once I get the AEM wideband and laptop battery I will do my first tune by taking out some timing if I see knock counts and take some fuel out as I am seeing 10.5-11:1 after 5k rpm.

So far its nice to work on a newer car. I have practically rebuilt my 87 supra previously and it made 500hp+, that thing was covered in 20 year old dirt.

Ill post more crap once I get more stuff in.

if anyone is curious, my supra (engine is out atm)

logged a 3rd gear pull.

guess i need to take a bunch of fuel out progressively after 3k rpms.

The car is making at least 30hp more with only the turbo back exhaust. Just yesterday I was able to spin all of 2nd gear after it has lightly rained. The car squirmed a little bit, but you gotta love awd, just stay in it and it will straighten itself. I was never able to lose traction like this even when it was pouring rain.

I will be getting some used race tires and mounting them on my 2nd set of wheels for autocrossing. I will still need to install my swift springs and tein front pillow ball mounts.

Logged a 4th gear pull using the latest evoscan. My corvette guru friend rode in my evo and guess it at around 330hp SAE. It feels like its around there. Then I pull the log and calculates 324. Its seems pretty accurate. Cant believe a stock IX with just a turbo back and drop in k&n is making well above 300..

Also it seems the florida humidity is working well with me, i get an occasional 1 knock at around 4500rpms (peak boost).

I will tune the maps a bit by pulling a little bit of fuel out and post the results.
