I've seen those red ones on different color cars and it looks much better. Maybe you should have gone with the carbon-look mudflaps instead. I'm just not feeling those. But if you like them

I think they look good. Yea, carbon fiber would have looked better, but at least they make your car stand out. Good idea.

In the first place, you would not use these for rally racing. They are for street driving. If you have ever really noticed a rally car's mud flaps, you would notice that they are attached to the SIDE of the car with through bolts along with the bolts in the fender well. And I appreciate your honesty on this. I started this thread for the people who wanted to get them for their Evo and were curious on how they mount up and how they look. Besides, they won't fit your Lancer OZ, so you only have to worry about seeing these on Evo's in the future if ever at all. I like them, it's my car.

Thanks, though.

Your car, don't get them. My car, I got them. There is a difference in each of us and let's see who has more rock chips in about 5000 miles. BTW, if I wanted to take them off, it takes about 3 minutes for all four. The brackets remain in place and they can be removed for cleaning or in case you are worried about what other people think of your car. I drive LONG road trips about once a month, with these and the car bra, I have saved my paint numerous times. These will stay on the car for good, the bra only goes on when I go on road trips. Sorry I like to take care of my paint and that it does not conform with your standards. Ever owned a Mitsu before? The paint is pretty damn soft, these help take care of it. Like I said: My car, I got them.
Thanks for the honesty, though.

Josh

if someone made replicas of those, in different colors, and sold them for a sane price, they would make a killing.

I know someone was making cheap looking imitations that looked like crap... Someone should make exact replicas...

I'd be highly interested in them, and I think they look good but not $400 good. They can so easily get stolen that it's not worth buying them.

I think black would look a lot better and having the color lowered would be a plus as well. Im not hating on your setup, I think the flaps has its purpose but its a bit off with the red color.

There is a thread on here from someone who had a Tarmac Black Evo and they threw on a set of Pep Boys $10 mudflaps and made it look pretty damn OEM. If you search I am sure you will find it.

Got to agree, not quite feeling the red, but black would have looked sweet!
And we all know how much 's paints sucks, so this sounds like a good idea...except for the $400.00 part. But to all their own.

When I get moved permanently down in southern Mississippi (mid October) I am going to tear apart my friend's US Lancer and find a way to fabricate some brackets for these cars as well as for the Evo. I have had like 10 requests for some info on these from Lancer/Evo owners since I posted the pictures earlier today. I can make them out of some pretty tough urethane in either red, white, blue, or black....Just not fake carbon fiber. I am also working with a shop right now that already has the dimensions on the bracketry and the needed hardware to come out with a set of these in those colors for the Evo. The Lancer will follow and I will probably just be selling them directly. PM me if you guys are interested and I will keep you updated.

I think the car would look wrong if it were lower w/ mudflaps. The standard height w/ mudflaps looks "propper" as far as an EVO rally car look goes. You can either go for the JTC look (lowered w/ body kit), or go for the rally car look. Both work on the EVO since it is actually raced in each catagory. My2c

I wonder what the carbon fiber ones look like... Can they be taken off without holes left behind? Ie, for winter use keep them on, but in the summer, have them off the car?

You have to drill NO HOLES in order to install these. You add bracketry to stock bolt locations in the fender wells. I have taken them off 3 times now in total, it takes like 5 minutes to remove all 4 and the brackets can be left in place and are not visible from the outside of the car. The SIMULATED carbon fiber and the red ones that I got can be found here:

Hope this helps,

Josh
