I found the stock HIDs to be way brighter than my non-HID car, but not as bright as a DDM kit on my 2g GSX.

If you want brighter, I'd buy quality replacements that are a bit brighter. Why have a higher end car like an evo and put ebay bulbs in it?

My one low beam bulb turned purple for a few days then changed to blue, like 6k, then now it flickers every time i turn them on and eventually turns off. Is my problem with the bulb or the ballast?

Also, are there any replacement bulbs rather then the OEM ones? They are like $95 from online parts dealers and I'm just looking for something a little cheaper if possible. If not then whatever.

If I buy a new bulb will it look different then the other older bulb? Like will they look different because the other is burned in longer then the other? What temp is stock? 4300k?

Thanks.

i concur u wana upgrade the ballasts to 55w to run the 55w bulb to make it work right, unless ur jus wanting to change the color output

i have a gsr and i added the ddmtuning 55w kit w/ 10k bulbs and its pretty bright, way brighter than the original halogen bulbs.

I believe someone answered this on the first page. If I'm reading your question correctly, and btw it was ChuckP that originally had 35w HIDs with his MR and now runs 55w HIDs (full kit).

Define brighter. Do they "look" brighter if you are looking at them? It could simply be the reflector on the 2g (I'm assuming there aren't projectors on your 2g). You could simply be looking at the poor dispersion of light. Have you put both against a wall at 30ft, 60ft, 100ft? I'm just curious as this is a common misconception, and I'm not bagging on you.

I had one car do that, and it was the bulb (I assume, as the bulb was toasted on the inside when I pulled it out). There are replacement bulbs and you can probably find some decent brands online somewhere, even ebay. I tend to buy my bulbs in pairs cause you don't know what you'll get if you just replace one. I personally don't like it if one is different than the other.

^don't forget that you also might want to remove the stockers before mounting the 55w ballasts!

^I left mine. I prefer to have a sealed headlight housing, rather than save a couple pounds.

Ah, nice. Then the bulbs? Just thought it was funny how it was asked how to go from 35w --> 55w.

They are held in place by a couple screws. but they seal to the headlight housing with a rubber washer. If you remove them, you need to fab up something that will seal the 4"+ hole.

My buddy just got an 05 evo... and one of the ballasts doesnt work.

If I order a D2S kit from DDM tuning, all I need to do is unplug the old ballast, plug the connector into the new one correct?

I have never changed HID lights on a car that has them stock.

I run a 6000K bulb with my factory ballast and, I am using a 3000k (yellow) HID kit for my foglights.

this is not addressing my question... not asking about bulb temperature.
