I've read many posts that describe how to relocate the radio, which is what I want to do. However, I don't want to add gauges where the radio is now located. I simply want to put the map pocket up top. Has anyone done this? Is it even possible?

meaning an LCD screen? care to elaborate?

 

you can buy a hu relocation kit, but i don't think you can move the pocket up. you might want to check www.metraonline.com for a din pocket, or run a search for one.

the base mazda protege has a DIN pocket with a cover to keep prying eyes off your goodies

Tom, I priced the DIN pocket at a local Mazda dealer today. $100 plus tax! At least the parts manager chuckled along with me. -Mike

 

how much for the vw pocket?

 

I found some VW pockets that are supposed to fit Mitsubishi & Subaru for under $7 but I think that's a distributor pricing (http://aampofamerica.com/specials_pd...cials%2003.pdf). I found another generic-fit pocket that accommodates CD's for about $20.
