The "other" CBRD Evo

I thought I'd post with a small update on my Evo... My car has been a good test bed for some different products that CBRD has been testing, most notably, the BBK Lite and Full turbo. My car is my daily driver with over 71k on the clock. I acquired it from the original owner who took great care of it (was on it's original clutch at 58k when I purchased it). It was basically stock save for Gram Light wheels and some gauges.

My goal with the car is simple... to have a great STREET car. I wanted a car that was a blast to drive on the street with the occasional strip/autoX/track day venture. I would rarely (if ever) run anything more than 93 octane in it. It will have a baby seat in it at times (new baby girl) so I wanted to have a reasonably quiet car.

My car as I bought it:

Not long after I purchased it, we did some basic upgrades. We installed:

DC Sports 3" Downpipe
DC Sports Catback
K&N Air filter on MAF adapter
Walbro Fuel Pump
Halman Pro MBC
Hotchkis springs and rear sway bar

The car made around 280/275 on our Mustang dyno (i thought it was a little low, later to find out the turbo was pretty beat... )

Not long after that, a 60k service was in order, and the next phase of upgrades was installed:

CBRD BBK Lite Turbo
CBRD Slim Rad and fan
Buschur Race FMIC and LICP
Megan 02 housing
Fidanza 4.3 Clutch and Lightweight flywheel
ARP Headstuds
COBB Catback (quieter)
OZ Ultraleggera 18x9 Wheels with Dunlop Z1 Star Specs 255/35-18

The car made 341/312 with the above mods. The BBK Lite is an absolute MONSTER on the street with instantaneous throttle response and boost.

Chad and Mark having some difficulty... (not really, just goofing around LOL!)

At the Buschur Shootout! Great time for sure... First time EVER drag racing and ran a 12.27 at 113.9 (not great, I know, but I'm not a very good driver.. LOL)

The next step was to a BBK Full (first one ever!) and then to the JM Fabrications tubular ex. manifold. My car was also the tester for the Perrin Intake which performs great! Definately a great piece. PTE 780cc injectors were also added. The car made 371whp and 340 wtq on 93 octane at 29 lbs. Pretty good power considering it was on stock cams, tb, IM, and UICP! I drag raced it one more time last year and ran a best of 12.13 at 115.8 mph (also to note, this was FULL weight, half tank of gas, etc.) I also installed a set of Binary seat lowering brackets which are fantastic! They are a great mod!

At our fall Dyno Competition last fall (Thanks to Jalal for the pic!)

This year, I plan on doing a Buschur Bushwacker transmission with Evo VIII 3rd and 4th gears and new cams. I also picked up a set of SSR SP1 Professors in 18x9 +31 and went with a wingless trunk. CBRD Ti Lugnuts were also added... booya. I am also going to do some subtle logos/graphics, but not sure what yet. Maybe a simple black stripe or something....

I was thinking last night about some of the absolutely AMAZING cars I've driven in the last 2 years (Ferrari 360 Challenge, 575M, Porsche Cayman S, 997 911 Turbo, and 997 GT3, Nissan GT-R, BMW M3 (E46) and M5, Lotus Exige, MINI Cooper S (car before my Evo), Subaru WRX STI, Audi RS4, S4, and RS6) and how much I still enjoy driving my Evo. I LOVE it... Meeting people at all of the different events is definately the best part about Evo ownership though.

A huge thank you is needed for Chad and Mark. They have both spent countless hours on this car and are responsible for where it is now. Also, a huge thank you to Blouch, Buschur, JM Fab, and jid2 (Binary). They have also helped out on this project in a major way!

Thanks for reading. Also, thank you to everyone who has supported CBRD. We appreciate each and every one of you!

The car looks great with the SSR's on it and wingless I was going to ask for a ride last night. I wanted to see what the BBK could do But you guys seemed a little busy, and it was close to closing time.

Love the car man...I've always thought Evos look the best when peeps keep 'em clean and simple.

Road racing shop and no coilovers on the car though? Come on guys quit holding back.

Trying my best to work with my budget... Also, since it's my daily driver, I didn't want to kill the ride.

I hear you on the budget man...and gotta say you've got some good taste going with the mod list there.

Your car has a sweet drop on whatever springs you're running...looks good and functional as well. I'm guessing the guys at the shop wouldn't have you rolling on springs that don't perform, so care to spill the beans?
