Another Built EVO

I bought this EVO less than 7k its come with 2 wheel. So its perfect for me to built it from ground up and with this Economy = Steal time
My friend from Mike@GBR in Sanford, FL is master plan on building this car. The guy been built EVO since EVO 3 in Ireland.


- Engine 2.3L ;
Engine- JDM Mitsubishi (evo extreme) motor
AMS stroker
GBR spec 86 mm pistons
Oliver Rods
Full Ferrea valve train
BC bearings
BC 280 cam
Balanced and blue printed, ported and polished head
Solid lifters, fuel and oil upgrades. Built by GBR and machine work by CW Pence.........

- Fullrace 35r twin scroll
- ECU by AEM
- Tein Super racing coilover
- Twin Carbonetic clutch
- and many other more ....

First When got the car

We got the car back from paint shop and pull out the motor ready for swap

IT's ready to rock in the track this weekend now after tune for me (16 psi ) don't want to go ball out yet

Looks like a great project for sure.

One potential citique ( ) , are you sure your frontmost post for the cage is going to be able to take a full on hit to the front of the driver side door without wanting to move down?

I understand that the nascar style bars will take all of the force in a straight side on impact but if you were to clip something sort of right behind the wheelwell on the driver side that portion of cage that is bent/angled back might be prone to moving inward?

Just basically asking if that portion of the cage should be straight in a perfect world, if its ok being bent, or if it was reluctantly paced there to give the driver room and still use the flat surface of the floorpan for a mounting point?

Mike and I worked with Mazworx to build the cage, from a design standpoint we felt that was the best way (most evo cages go around the dash like an "S", and we felt that was a weaker design). That is why we did that style door bar and added a dash bar in behind the factory one.

In a perfect world we would like it to come straight, but the wheel well structure does not allow it, and we tried to tie it in to prevent that the best way possible.

The S-Type design is what makes me stray away from the pre-bent cage packages thare out there, as you mentioned if that portion of the cage takes a walloping from the front or bottom of the car its going to want to fold over way easier than one kink like yours or a straight bar.

Appreciate you taking the time to address my question! Best of luck with the build, it looks like its going to be a serious one
