Flashing brake lights....

i have come to the conclusion that this could benefit me a lot since i have been rear ended 3 times (im been thinking about it for years, but im bored now and want to do it)....just not sure how to do it....i think i need some resisters or some kind of switch...im sure there are some elec. engineers on this site that can tell me.

the Ford GT has it...the Veyron.....and now i want it...cause i want ppl to see that i am breaking and it will make it obvious that I am braking...and since my car can stop faster than most ppl on the road it will help draw attention to my brake lights.

seen @ 3:25 of the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXxVszw20Sc

i think that they are LEDs flashing really fast. When you see them in real life it seems like their solid ON. But because of video frame rates you get the wagon wheel effect and it seems like its blinking in the video.

I'm just assuming that actually. I've seen cadillacs with led brake lights that seem like they are really fast strobe lights. I think that would show up as flashing on video.

I think that would also bring attention to the police.

I thought any type of flashing lights were illegal on non government vehicles.

Maybe I should clarify....

Red and or blue alternating/flashing lights are ONLY to be used by emergency vehicles.

Ask me how I know.

How do you know?

JK, strobes are illegal, especially the red ones. F1 rain lights are the only red light I've seen in racing.

maybe you could rig it up so it only flashes when you hit your brake lights with a certain amount of pressure. that is what i would do. that way you dont constantly have them flash while at a stop light

F1 using them in rain, and while the soft rev limiter is activated. Back when CART was around they also used a flashing light, even during dry conditions at a certain amount of negative g forces. (Braking)

To the OP, check out the12volt.com, they have a few different schmetics on just what you're looking for.

I came up with an idea. Wire in a new style electronic flasher (not variable load type or heavy duty) but before that, wire in a mercury switch. You'll need one that has 3 or 4 contacts. At static, wire it so it bypasses the flasher... under negative g's have it go through the flasher. During actual braking it will flash, at static it'll just stay on.

However this only works on level road surfaces.
