I wanted the VIII bumper with the nose chopped off and I wanted it done right. This means a grille area that wasn't uneven, made from oem plastic and not fiberglassed and also with an oem grille put in.

Most of what you see is the original bumper. The diamond was cut in half pressed down, plastic welded, shaved, bondoed and reinforced by fiber glass from underneath. The orginal grille brackets were used but the grille was cut out and a new one put in.

All work was done by CACmobile in Huntington beach and I'm very happy with the way it turned out. And oh yes, I know it isn't painted but it gives you an idea of a job done right.







The way most people have done this is by cutting out the entire grille area and putting in an entire fiberglass piece. I don't like it that way for two reasons. The first is that the grille area would be more prone to cracking. The second is that the grille sometimes does not come out completely even. Even very dedicated bodyshops that spends hours and hours seem to come out with grille jobs that are less than perfect. For example, this beautiful car below does not have a perfectly even grille area, the right side is higher than the left. By not cutting out the entire grille area to begin with, you don't have to worry about stuff like that. So if anyone else is going to do this, I'd suggest the method CAC Mobile used. the picture you used is my car.. and was not done using fiberglass. they used the same materials your shop did. the only reason my bumper has that imperfection is from the fitment. i have actuallyadjusted it since and it doesnt seem nearly as high on the right

^^ thanks, glad to hear it worked out well for you. Didn't really wanna use your car as a "bad" example because it honestly is one of the cleanest ww i've ever seen. I just couldn't find pictures of some of the hack jobs that i've seen. And I've seen a lot of nose chops in person that didn't work out, just wanted to refer people to a more efficient/cleaner method.

I did the exact same process on mine. With the nose pressed down for strength. I also reinforced it but with a thinn piece of metal for added strength. It can take a few bumps.. Just be careful because bondo is prone to cracking with just the lightest bump.
