Nose Job
Nose Job
Well, it's saturday, and I was bored. So I decided to give the EVO a Nose Job.....
I have read various ways to do this. With the most popular way being to cut the nose in half, then fold it down. The problem with this is uneveness, and a lot of cuts which need to be made, then plastic welded....
So, I cut the entire nose out, and plastic welded in a new, perfectly flat section of ABS plastic. I then plastic welded it in, and added more plastic weld to the neccessary areas. I then fiberglassed the underside for rigidity. I added a little bondo to the top to smooth out the plsatic welds. Didnt really spend a lot of time here, as I didn't know if it was going to hold up or if I would like it in the long run.
When doing this, you also have to modify the metal brackets which bolt to the underside of the bumper.
All in all, this turned out pretty good for only taking me 5 hours to do.
If this proves to be a long term mod I like, I will pull the bumper, and install the evo9 mesh and emblem, while making some small edjustments to the finish work on the nose.
This mod is not for the paint at heart....
I will post up some better pictures later, these were with the Iphone, post surgery.... (more pics on top of page 2)

Why did I do this? Because this bumper is trashed from 60,000 miles, and needs replaced anyway. So why not give this a try before I get a new number....

Thanks, yea, from the previous pictures I have seen on here, the chopped 8 is the best looking front end for the evo IMO.
I will get a pic of the hood closed in a sec...
I'm out here in the garege trying to find other projects to do on the car...
I wish my brembo decals were in, I would do the calipers...(black with white decal of course)
