"Scrubbing it down" can easily bend the fins. I would recommend just spraying water on it. If you have bugs inside the FMIC you might need to GENTLY use a screwdriver or some pliers to get them out. The fins are VERY easy to bend. Use caution!

some engine brite from gunk will clean it up or some simple green... apply to a cool engine.... let settle and then spray off.....
pretty much how you would clean a condensor on an AC house system... but i wouldn't use the chemicals used for cleaning condensors

there are chemicals out there that foam up after they are sprayed on to things like that... but like grod said, they are mostly used for a/c condensors... it works really really well, but I dont know if there is a huge difference in the construction of a FMIC compared to a condensor other than the size of tubing/fins

you need to get yourself a small tipped paintbrush to get them bugs outta there... real PITA, but looks so much better when you don't have bug guts all over your ish...

if you use a tooth brush you could bend the fins.... just use a foamy cleaner and this will take the bugs out

sorry about that, use a left to right motion to clean. not up and down, that will bend them!
