alrigt im about to buy some new headlights for my 2006 evo 9 TB im thinking about either getting evo 9 jdm or evo 8 jdm
i need a favor if u can post pics of an evo 9 with evo 8 jdm headlights

Correct me if i'm wrong.. isn't the only difference that one is matte black and the other housing is gloss?

i like the jdm 9 ones better then the 8 + you have a 9 so it just works

 

USDM Evo 9 should get = JDM Evo IX heads/tails.
USDM Evo 8 should get = JDM Evo VIII heads/tails.

IMHO of course .

and yes IX= black chrome, VIII= flat black for both heads and tails. Within each model, the GSR/MR heads are HID equipped housings and RS are HALOGENS.

Correction to your post, the 05, 06 GSR with SSL package comes with HID, non SSL GSR don't.

Not all JDM GSR come with HID for your information, HID is an option in Japan, how do I know these? look at my username.

 

I have a question. So my wifes evo viii comes with stock hid's and the balast is on the headlight itself. Now my IX did not come stock with HID's, so I bought aftermarket HID's. My question, if anyone knows, is when you buy JDM Headlights, how would that work if one has the hid and foglight built in, and the IX GSR does not have either of the two. Anyone can pm me if they know, or post here. Id appreciate the help. Im getting ready to throw a set on mine, but my wife will as well, but wasnt sure if there is a special option for the VIII GSR's stock set up.

 

I have 06 evo ix mr se and i bought evo 7 jdm headlighs. They are chrome and my plan was to repain them to flat black on the inside but i think thats too much work for me now so im looking into buying a set of black jdm healights, dont care if they are gloss or flat black i just want them in black since my car is black. If anyone is interested ill sell you my chrome evo JDM headlights, they are xenon. PM me if someone is interested.

 

I might have caught you a little late, but I was in that similar situation before myself. I have a IX GSR too, so no HIDs. If you wanted to go the route of getting the JDM headlight housings, really all you would need is the HID bulbs and ballast (also a wiring harness).

I just did a full retrofit on mine with the same USDM light housing and HID projectors. You won’t have any foglights because there is no light there. It is just plastic . However I do recommend getting the bi-xenon projectors. Even with the bi-xenons you can still run the factory highbeams, but I disconnected mine so I only have one light emitting (one per light housing). I’m very happy with the lights only wish that they were positioned SLIGHTLY higher. The H&R springs make the lights shine too low. (and yes I have adjusted the lights to their highest).
