Evo IV project eye candy
I would just reuse the block, (I wasn't the owner when it walked btw haha not my fault; I take care of my stuff) but when I say it walked, it walked! .072 of play in the crankshaft according to my dial indicator. Pulled the oil pan to find that one side of the thrust bearing was completely gone and the crank ate a fine ring into the side of each journal. I dunno if I can still use the block that way or not. I was thinking that with new bearing I could still use it, but I'm not expert on internals either. Vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKwS1MEpL4o
Sorry for threadjack, but your info interests me. Curious what you think of the situation.

ran into a speed bump. this car has been curbed on right side. frame pushed back about 1/4 inch on right side. hooked up chain to tree and did some 30 ****** pulls to get unibody straightened back out.
mounted fog lights in bumper to complete front end. added "bugscreen" emblems.

Built the drive shaft over the weekend. The shaft comes from RX8. picked it up for like 75 shipped. The rear of shaft fits the drive hub perfect after drilling 4 new holes. That was hardest part of the project. That splicer is something real hard material. very hard to drill. plus the u-joint is non servicable type. so you cant take it off to drill with drill press. The front of course is cut off, then the splines for evo shaft welded on. pretty simple project in theory. spent about 12 hours. end result is 15 pounds shaved. and dare i say car feels more lively now. The drive train has less bounce to it. I like it...

Making your own new drive shaft nice! I am amazed at all the work you have done to this in the time you have owned it. I miss it and I only wish I could have treated better like you have done.
I am glade you fixed the alignment on the car. I wanted to get that fixed but no one had specs on it for the frame or the alignment for the wheels so I always just got it as close to good as I could to drive with out wearing out tires and in a straight line.
Hey where in Tampa are you? I am actually not far away from Florida and if possible would love to come check it out
PM me if you can.

Very nice build the IV V and VI are my fav evo's. BTW 7 bolts arent the only ones that crankwalk Ive seen a few 6 bolts walk too. The one in my old Talon walked when I got it, I just made sure the oil was always changed and checked and it never gave me a prob, My cousin has a 6 bolt 4G63 Conquest and that walked too, curiously they were both running clevite bearings.
