Awesome, it's really motivational seeing this done in an average garage with just friends, keep up the good work!

jid2 - I pretty much figured the turbo and exhaust manifold would all have to come back off since there wasn't really a lot of room to pull it when there was no turbo on the motor lol. And I will definitely learn as much as I can about tuning; however, I don't feel comfortable practicing on my new motor when I know very little about tuning and how to Navigate the AEM system. My buddy who is tuning it will be teaching me along the way; however, even then I won't be messing with his tune unless I start adding more stuff later on.

02/22/09: Installed AEM EMS and routed my AEM Wideband wire and the boost gauges vacuum lines back through the firewall.

I used the double sided stick velcro tape that came with the AEM and stuck it to the inside of the factory ECUs mounting bracket. I also used a vice grip in my garage to bend the top part of the bracket straight out so it would fit on backwards, which is the only way to install it and still have access to your serial cable.

Stuck the AEM on the bracket about an inch lower than the stock position so the serial cable would have room up top. It's also important to make sure that it's mounted with the logo facing the front of the car because the harness won't reach otherwise. I decided to go ahead and put the serial cable on and tighten it down so I wouldn't have to worry about taking my glove box out or removing the AEM later on.

AEM EMS looks like factory install now. With the serial cable in the glove box and ready for use.

I've also decided to go ahead and share with you guys how you're supposed to torque the head down because for some reason that information is really hard to find on these forums as well.

This is my artists rendition of someone looking at their motor from the front of the car (exhaust manifold in front and intake manifold in back). This is numbered in order 1(first) to 10(last).

When torquing the bolts down you do it in 3 sequences. The first time around, in the order listed above, you'll torque all the bolts down to 55. Second time, 70. Third time 85lbs. You can also use anti-seize lube from Oreillys and it'll work just as well as the ARP lube. I hope this info helps some of you.

I'm planning on getting a lot done Wednesday night so expect another update then! : )

lol imagine how I feel! I mean I know you gotta pay to play but cmon! This is ridiculous! I'm hoping as long as we're much safer with the tune this time all should go well.
