Nisei Competition Intercooler

The waiting is over. I just got the package from Maxum technologies (Nisei's distributer) I was so excited when I got it that when I tossed it into the car to install I got about half way to the garage before I realized I didn't have any tools. Time was too short before I had to go into work so I put it off.

After I closed my shift at work I went to my friend's house to do a hasty install. The first pics are a brief overview of the magnitude of Nisei's intercooler VS stock. Night time photos are the install-obviously. Hope you guys enjoy.

Congratulations Bro.......I run the same.......Due to its large size, my tuner reported absolutely no abnormal lag & the car tuned very well w/ the Nisei

My question to you is, my Comp has 23 cooling tubes......I count only 22 on yours......My Comp was bought some 4 years ago

Heres a pic of my 9 w/ her skirt off..........Peace

Looks great!! I really like it and if I did not already purchase an IC to install, I would be picking this one.

I haven't checked with Maxum yet but I'll look into it.

Long story short I can speculate that they have outsourced a new distributer for cores. From what I gather the cores arrived at Nisei on thursday got to Maxum on Friday and overnighted to me for a Saturday install. Welds look flawless, the cast tanks have slight pitting in them(cosmetic) and the top isnt etched with the Nisei Logo. I mark this up to the rush to get these to the customers.

All and all I love the new part. Butt dyno shows no signs of reduced performance. I have my street tune on thursday to switch to Premium Corn Fuel. I'll let you all know how it goes.

OK. I just checked with MAXUM technologies and the Nisei Competition now come with only 22 cooling tubes. This is due to a design revision for "better efficiency" I got this info from Jed at maxum tech. They have a few more tricks up their sleeve for the future, but I'm not going to give out trade secrets. Maybe Jed or someone else from maxum tech will chime in the specifics.

Long story short: MinusPrevious noticed that his older set up from a few years had 23 cooling tubes as advertised and the new Nisei intercooler has 22. They are apparently in the middle of switching out the info on both of their websites.

Nisei IC

Boost leak check that puppy to make sure it has no leaks in the welds joining the end tanks and core. My street had a leak from a weld during the manufacturing process. Kevin from Nisei sent me a loaner, prototype street ic until they could send me a new competition version. Three years ago!! I'm still waiting, I've talked to him on several occasions, e-mailed him and Jed recently. No response, no support.

IC looks great though Good luck with it.

LOL Chris........I'm a tube counter.....Thanks for the informative response.....22 vs 23 tubes / What other cores are available w/ that level of tube count???

Bottom line.......The Nisei is a beautiful & huge FMIC & w/ the performance to back it up.......Peace, MinusPrevious

^^^ what I said when I opened the box.

And to the guy with the complaint from what you said that doesn't sound like anyone from Maxum that i have dealt with. If Maxum isn't known for distributing bad *** parts then they are definatly known for their customer service. I have been in direct contact with these guys on several occasions no matter how small the matter was. If somethings not right I've seen these guys make it right bottom line.

I have no idea what happened to this company but I've had the mini battery kit and piping for a year. It sure holds up great and so does the intercooler. Such a beefy construction of metals
