Volks or Rotas (replicas)?

I been searching for some wheels for awhile now and im leaning towards Volks but they are hella expensive! I searched for Rotas and they have exact replicas of most popular Volks. For example: ce28 vs dpt, re30 vs svn, te37 vs grids. Can you go wrong with Rotas and save quite a bit of money or save up for Volks? I need some feedback....pls!

this question has been beat up. man rotas are great wheels no reason not to get them .Yes some of them are heavier then volks of course but again if you just want the style and dont mine alittle extra weight then they are good. you can track them DD them auto x rotas no issues. its a personal preference to be honest.

like RockmanX said, this is an overbeaten discussion and you will get people defending Rota or hating on them.

My 2 cents... I happen to be a wheel ***** and while Rota does capture the look of JDM wheels, they are different. Again, I happen to have owned 2 sets of Advans and 2 sets of Volks in the past and I have seen Rotas on other people's cars. I know the REAL wheels very well and can tell the differences but most people can't tell them apart.

On the street and for AutoX, Rotas will do the job just fine... they have been around for a while now and they have proven that their casting is reliable.

Rotas also look great well... because they are replicating a design that another company came up with in the first place.

I don't hate on Rotas nor do I support them. I would rather buy Enkeis if Volks were too expensive for me..... Enkeis are just a couple hundred dollars more than Rotas anyways and you get an original wheel design.

funny thing is, people think $2800 bux for Volks is alot, thats nothing compare to real High end wheels like HRE and such.... 7k for a set...

ANYWAYS... just my opinion.

Rotas and spend the rest of the money on something else, or save it.

You get what you pay for to a certain extent. I've had Rota's crack and 5Zigen's crack; both of which are cast rims. Will I own either again; nope. Do they work just fine for other people; sure do.

A lot of track guys get the Volks because they are strong (forged) and very light. That's why I have them. Heck, mine were used and pretty knicked up but I didn't care.

If they weighed the same, I'd buy the Rotas. All depends on how much you value decreased rotational mass.

I have been happy with my Rota's, great wheel at a great price. But if you have the $$$ and it wont kill you every time you get a nick on a $700 wheel, then by all means get the Volks.

Volks are the better wheel, just not the better bargain.

I've cracked a volk TE37, one friend cracked an Advan RG, and another cracked a Racing Hart CP-035.

Just because you pay out the *** doesn't mean they are indestructible. Quite to the contrary actually, it seems most of the high end wheels bend and crack easier on a street car then their replica counterpart.

Yes, the material is stronger and the manufacturing process is better, but the wheel is also made lighter and thinner everywhere, which in the end, makes them seemingly no stronger.

If you aren't after chasing pounds and just want the look, I see no reason to not get replicas unless you are one of the snob types that buys something just for the name.

If I had the money, I'd buy the real thing for weight, but I can think of a lot of other places the money would be better spent.
