Unhappy Vivid Racing CF Trunk!

This morning the carbon fiber trunk arrived at my girl friends house, so i rushed to pick it up and install it on my car... I started the install at 4:00 and it should only take 3 hours at the most, but of course...

My life can not be so easy because of course the trunk does not line up... The holes that they have predrilled do not line it up properly... Also the trunk came wrapped in VIS wrapping paper... The piece looks high quality and it is definately eye candy, but damn...

It's 8:00 and i can't finish, because i need to climb inside the trunk to line everything up... i wish someone would put me out of my mistery already... bolt on , haha...

Installs are never as easy as you think, its always yeah It will take me X amount of time, but there is something that happens or a piece missing or etc......
Just hang in there, and if you get tired don't rush and mess something up from being tired. (I've done that before) Make sure you post some pic's when you get it done......

I'll post pics once i'm done, but i will not be able to dedicate anymore time till SATurday now...

But the JDM tail lights look great... I just want to get the trunk lined up right and not mess up in the process... the UK Badge is icing on the cake...

Bro... VIS products are notorious for giving the shaft to fitment. I think it's like 1 out of every 5 trunks/hatches fit good.

My friend ordered one for his 92 Hatchback... the next day after he received it, he drove straight to VIS and demanded his money back. He didn't but he got store credit...

Best of luck.

isn't it 4 bolts?

why must it take 3 hours?

when i took out my trunk to get the holes filled, took me no more than 10-15 min to get the trunk off.

oh well

do you have a drill to make the new holes???

good luck bro

Taking the first trunk off is cake... Just feeding the trunk release lines make it semi hard... I spend a good amount of time just playing the shimmy game moving the CF trunk back and forth, to find i'm off by and inch... No such great news...

Don't get me wrong, it's a Hot piece, but what a battle at the end... I'm confident it will finally work, but i can't dedicate more time till SATurday...

New Holes will be necessary in my situation, after yesterdays diagnostics...

VIS is notorious for being **** products. I ordered one for my Spec V last year, and when I got it, the resin that is used to adhere the CF to the fiberglass bled through. I called and they said to just install it and then use some type of compound to remove it. Tuns out, it was UNDER the clearcoat and was not removable. So after installing it and drilling holes for hood pins, they denied a warranty and I was stuck with it. They told me to install it so they wouldn't have to have it replaced. I emailed SEMA, VIS, and other automotive industry leaders to let them knowand ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was done. **** VIS!! Oh, and it lined up like **** too. Passenger side was like 3 inches higher than the rest of the body lines...

VIS is a **** company. They are all ****in dirtbags over there and have 0 customer support. I got a VIS hood, It lines up pretty good but their business practices are ****.

I bought (and paid for) 3 CF hood. I had to rent a truck, drive to their wharehouse (2 hours away each direction) and when I got there, oh sorry dude we only have 1 (after i called 3 times on the way up there to make sure). So they were like we will get em in this week. I got blown off for a month and a half then I finally demanded a refund, they have a no refund policy, needless to say I was wicked pissed but in the end I got my money back but not without significant hassle.

so in the end i say **** VIS, and for Vivid selling VIS trunks as their own I saw booooh! (Since you could get the lancer trunk from any VIS dealer).

Ruben, dude you should've asked me. Remember when I had my VIS hood on my Eclipse? Horrible fit. Took me and my friend an hour to make it fit. Poor quality. I'm never buying VIS products ever again. Why not go for the Monster Sport trunk? That would've probably been a better fit.

To tell you the truth i bought the one that VIVID sold me... When i called they said it was the same trunk that they had on there car, which i would only think its monster Sport because that is the one on the website... I would never buy a VIS product if my life depended on it...

I think i'm just stuck with it, i'll make this **** fit - like or not... HIGH REV... I remember the quality issues... VIS is garbage, remember the early blitz style kits that they offered, off on every corner...

Hell yeh man. VIS sucks ***. Maybe you should return the trunk to Vivid and tell them to get you the C-West or Monster Sport trunk, not the VIS. Tell them they messed up your order or something.
