The carbon fiber section of a IX wing is hollow instead of cored like an VIII. Gurney flap + headwind on track + high speed = broken wing.

It was a very windy day at Fontana when it occurred The carbon wing snapped so hard it actually dented my nice black trunk. A double whammy

If you read that thread, I posted that I didnt believe downforce could have done that (was I wrong)
