Since buying the car, I have done a lot (with help from STM). Not all of it was necessary, but it was customizing it to my tastes.
  • changed the oil
  • new OEM fluids in transfercase, transmission and rear end
  • new OEM struts and springs
  • removed the 20% tint on all windows
  • removed the gauges and gauge pods
  • removed the car alarm
  • removed emissions (evap, egr, fpr solenoid), and a bunch of other under the hood extras
  • fixed an exhaust leak at the cat
  • upgraded to the TephraMod V7 tune
  • washed the hell out of the car
  • fixed a boost leak at the throttle shaft seals, and throttlebody
  • replaced the 10k HID headlights with factory bulbs

Here is how it sits today!

Very happy with the car. It is in great shape, for it's age and having so many owners!

Very nice. I have a clone of yours there the way it sits. Mine is dirty as hell tho - makes me want to go out and clean it, but too cold. Sometime in spring, I suppose...sigh!

Question on emissions pulling - Can you document quickly what needs to be done to pull it all off, sir? Did you block EGR with a plate or the stock valve?

Also, you said you pulled underhood extras - what might those be?

I hate that crap too and want to do the same. Also, did the Tephramod V7 turn off CEL's etc from pulling emissions? I don't know much about tuning etc and hate to bother you with such trivial stuff (for you atleast!). Thanks!

EDIT - Just noticed you have white mirrors - nice. Not the black stock RS ones.

Yeah, no clue why I have white mirrors. My '06 has black ones, maybe the previous owners swapped them, or maybe this year came with body color ones.

Under the hood, I removed the EGR solenoid, the vac lines, the FPR solenoid and vac lines, the Evap solenoid and lines, all of the brackets associated with those systems. I removed the IC sprayer, those brackets, tucked the wire under the fuel rail, put on an STM EGR blockoff plate, looped the coolant lines going to the throttlebody, and a bunch more little things. I try to have only the bare necessities on my cars, I am a minimalist.

Looks good when cleaned up! Hmm just wondering how many of us here have 2 or even more Evo's? Curious.

Thanks for the reply!

I would have to say I am a minimalist as well. Less garbage like this on the car, the better.

Did you remove the charocal canister under the rear bumper since you pulled EGR etc? I did a search for this and saw someone say you could do that as well.

So, did the tephramod v7 fix all the CEL lights or wil it not throw a CEL if you removed all this stuff.

I would love to do this as well and clean up my engine bay up. Not having ABS and cruise is awesome as the bay looks much cleaner!

I am planning to get HID's. Its not for bling, but HID's do light up the road much better. I wish the RS did have the HID's and foglights.

neonglh - Does the RS wiring harness come with factory plugs for HID's etc? Thanks!

10k HIDs to much for you? And that would of been cool.

Based on what I know about HID's, I found this since I was too lazy to type:

The "K" rating is color temperature, NOT light output. Brightness is measured in lumens. 12000K actually has much less light output than 4300K:

4300K has an approximately 3100 lumen output, which is about 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light and is the color temperature with the most output.

6000K has an approximately 2900 lumen output, with a slight tint of blue.

8000K has an approximately 2500 lumen output, it emits bluer light than the 6000K

10000K has an approximately 2300 lumen output, 10000K produces a deep blue light.

12000K has an approximately 2000 lumen output, This color temperature puts out a deep bluish violet light.

That wiring mess looks similar to mine!

Why no tint though?
