^^

Some race cars even spring-loaded connectors like that, so they can pull off the front end in one piece, wires and all. That is straight up baller.

^^^That is the type of connector that I will be using throughout my wiring job comming up later this year. They are a bit more expensive, but very very nice.

Quick question for you EvoooB. Do recall off hand or approximately how many wires/connections you had total coming through the firewall? I'm beginning my project and getting parts for it and I'm curious about the size of connector that I would need to run (how many pin inputs) for a single firewall connector.

Yea guys, those connectors for the firewall are either Deutsch AS or Amphenol connectors. We are using them, but they are crazy expensive. I think that what has been accomplished here is awesome and took a TON of planning and lots of tedious work to do right. Using the Deutsch DT/DTS connectors like he has done is MORE than sufficient for the wiring. A+ job man!

cannon plugs (what you all are geek eyed over) have been used in military vehicles forever. Generally the pins are the most expensive part because they are all gold, not just plated. The proper crimping tool will run you over $100 alone. They are fool proof to work with. The male end is the "J" (junction), and the female is the "P" (plug). they are labeled on the backside for easy reference so J1 goes to P1 and so on. They will only plug in one way so there isnt a worry about mixing things up. Sometimes ones big enough for the engine bay can be found on ebay.
