I parked over at the next shopping center that wasn't even open and walked and still got it.

Don't automatically assume everyone is lazy because there are people who are more thoughtless than anyone could ever be lazy... and one of them dinged my door.

Now I park way over there and take up two spaces to do it.

Rust you say..... i wonder if the newer evo owners know about the rusty bumper issue... ...try looking under your car at where the rear bumper connects to the body... i bet you'll see some rust! or the paint chips that you'll get on the drivers side just inback of where the door closes LOL...

I know the touch up paint wont look that great, but will it help prevent rusting ?

Folks are kind of talking around your question aren’t they? Most any metal exposed directly to the environment is at risk of corrosion. You can also potentially get bubbling of the paint if moisture gets under the paint and expands on a cold night. The likelihood of this is small, but it could happen. Touch up paint should be fine for this type of damage. It will seal the area from the environment and kind of hide the blemish. Since the car is new the touchup paint should match the car paint well enough. I recommend either having a lady friend do it (my experience is that they are just better using those types of brushes) or use a toothpick tip to get the paint into the area of concern. Good luck and don’t let it bother you too bad.

Best wishes,

Just touch-up the area with the touch-up sells at the dealer, I got mine from Glendale , no matter how carefull you are things like this happens, By the way if you see a wingless silver evo with volk wheels that would be me oh also with our nice weather in Southern Cali. chance of rusting is slim to none.

No...not always the case. I've parked away from the restaurant countless times in an empty lot at night, and my friends can even say, that for some reason, other people just mosy over and park right next to you, even though the parking lot is empty. I'm like WTF? They coulda parked in the first space and save themselves walking time, but no, for that unknown reason (maybe they took a pic of their car next to mine, who knows?) they will park right next to yours...not even one space over.

Everyone makes fun of me at work because I park so far away. I always stop them dead in their tracks with it, though. when we are all leaving and going to our cars, they say something about how much further I have to walk when they are about to get in their car. I stop and say "wait a minute...What is that on your door? Is that a dent? Oh, dude...That must suck. Nobody has ever dented my doors. Oh well, I guess you'll just have to live with it, huh?"

I'm a dick like that.
