Angry Three days old and already scratched!!

Yesterday afternoon I was admiring my car when I noticed a scratched area behind the rear wheel where the bumper meets the body of the car. My heart sank , I couldn't believe it. I'm pretty sure this happened in a parking lot earlier that day when I was out. Anyways.. the scratch isn't that big and not very noticeable from a few feet away, but a small portion of the scratch (about 2 millimeters) is down to the bare metal. The rest of the scratched area only went down to the undercoating. Anyways, is the bare metal portion at risk of rusting? Should I use touch-up paint to repair it or take it to a body shop? I know if I take it to a body shop they are going to rape me up the *** when it comes to $$. How much do you guys think it will cost me to repaint the bumper?

I guess it was bound to happen eventually but did it have to happen this early!?

It'll happen to the hood and front bumper too, with rock chips though. You can touch it up, but then you'll be **** with the inevitable flying rock chips on the hood. It won't stop either.

BTW, I'm 99% sure that the damage was caused by a parked car next to me turning too early when they were trying to leave and scraping against the side of my car. There weren't any dents or anything, just the scratch on the metal area right above where the bumper meets the rest of the car.

A tiny bit of the scratch went down to the metal

Can it be left alone or should I worry?

LIKE I SAID: Get the clear film over the car....sure it might be a little expensive...but in the long run it pays for itself....because if you didnt have it then you'd be paying for scratches and chips on your hood and bumper

The scratch is on the REAR of the car (where the bumper meets the rest of the body)

I took my new car home on a Friday night and Sunday at lunch someone threw their door open and put a big ding as well as a major paint scuff on my driver door. Of course they didn't have the decency to leave a note. Worthless scum that doesn't deserve to have a car or drive.

Well, I guess the clear bra would be nice but I'm more concerned with taking care of the scratch first. Do you guys know if body shops can repaint just the scratched area and a rough estimate of how much it will cost?

If you're looking for a place I had M2 in Burbank do some work and was satisfied. Another good place is Modern AutoBody in Glendale. Take your car in and get a free estimate at either place.
